PL: Benfica x Sporting

We hosted and beat a very good and improved Sporting team, Lima finished off what has to be one of the best goals in the league this year.

Benfica was surprised with Sporting's youngsters then scored and could have caused quick damage but the game wasn't put away until the second goal.

+ 3 points and staying on top of the league, to mention that Sporting played well and could have had a penalty or two which would have changed the game, both teams got a hand from the crowd at the end of the game

A very even game. The difference was Benfica taking full advantage of two chances. In the final third, Sporting looked like they regressed closer to their form vs. FCP than what they had done the prior two weeks weeks. The way Benfica has been scoring this year, it's a lot of pressure to put on the midfield and defense when you cannot finish any chance you do create.

To SLB's credit, they limited the chances that Sporting did get. They didn't looked to troubled on any set piece. As JJ said after the game, they have dominated all of their home matches this season; but they got the results.

Next week's match in Madeira is going to feel like a mini-final. Will be interesting to see if JJ holds to his claim that he will not be rotating players for the UEFA.

As an aside, Cardozo's demeanor after being subbed was interesting. No one likes being subbed in a big game, but reacting like that while you're winning is lame.

huge step taken towards the title, but we have to keep our focus now, the road ahead is still filled with danger
