PL Round 20, THE DERBY!!! in Alvalade

There's only one derby and this time around it takes place in Alvalade, throw the stats out the window and expect the lizard fans to show up in full to support their team, we've been on a roll as of late and have nothing but wins in 2011, let's keep it this way.
I'm expecting a hard fought win to bring us within 8 points and solidify 2nd place, no excuses, we want the 3 points

My favorite is still the 6-3 away, 9 goals in a high octane game ;-) followed by the 1-0 at home in 2005 that gave us the championship.
come to think of it the 1-4 with the major players on the bench was good too

Joao Pinto was untouchable that night in 94. Isaias was another epic player. Nice goal from Helder too.

Killa, when did you become Dearman? Kidding, love the historic re-visit of events no less.

This always happens. We're playing the best football in all of Portugal right now and Sporting isn't. That usually means Sporting is going to trip us up. :rollani:

I sure hope not. But if it happens, we've still got plenty of cushion keeping us away from them.

Forca Benfica!!!

Great post Killa. On the contrary to Dearman you know what you're talking about.

El Lobo, i left a lot out, those mid to late 90's Benfica teams were horrible, from that team the only good ones were Joao Pinto, Poborsky and Preud'homme, Sporting's teams were even worse lol

Filipa, contrary to you, you provided nothing of equal or greater value to Dearman so until that happens, per the usual, you never know what you're talking about.

This Benfica team creates a lot of chances so things might be different for him in another system

He did only play a handful of games at Atlético in a period where the team were fighting on two fronts, there was little place of misstakes and adaptation so hence the small amount of chances. He didn't have a proper pre-season with the team either plus Salvio was injured for two months before joining Atlético while the Apertura had ended almost 1,5 months before he signed. A lot of circumstances
