Benfica - Sporting

Benfica wins this one with a late goal by David luiz, who was simply a monster all game long. He was in charge of keeping Liedson in his pocket and did so masterfully. Just love the kids attitude, spanking Liedson every chance he got. Then topped it all off with a great goal from a Manny set piece.

Good, well contested game with worthy matchups all over the field. Moutinho and Manny, Manny and... well, Manny and practically the entire Sporting midfield. It was fun to watch.

All in all, Benfica were the deserved winners, Sporting rarely threatened and benfica had a previous blatant opportunity to hit first. but for 99% of the time, this game was contested in the midfield, with Veloso and Manny doing most of the contesting for each respecctive side - a far cry from last season's friendly where Sporting was clearly more athletic and younger than Benfica. Tonight, the matchups were worth the price of admission.

I hate Liedson. What a diving, cheating, annoying, rat-faced piece of shit. That is all.

We played better and overall deserved to win but...o primeiro milho é para os pardais.

I don't see how anyone could say one team deserved to win more then the other. It was a nice game for a preseason game, and its always nice to beat you rivals no matter what.

MOTM was by far David Luiz, he was a monster all game, and he made Liedson his bitch.

The green windbag is just trolling.

I've been a huge critic of the front office for hiring FS, but it hasn't been all bad. Finds like David Luiz help me forget momentarilly that the coach is a horse's ass. Kudos Vieira.

When Cardozo, Di Maria, Freddy Adu and Nuno Gomes are available, Fernando Santos will have no excuse.

Who isn't playing currently.

I missed the game because I couldn't give up a nice summer afternoon in order to watch practice.

Zoro is our biggest worry. He got hurt in the game vs Betis, and it looked serious (noncontact injury).

Di Maria is hurt, but no one's said what exactly is wrong with him. Nunoid is still nursing something (possible transferitis), and Freddy Adu was still in Washington packing his bags, though I think he arrived in Lisbon today. Cardozo is recovering from a bruised ankle, I think.

I don't think anyone else's hurt.

True, but their bruised egos is hardly significant to us.
