Fernando Santos: Should he stay or leave?

We all know where I stand on this. We brought him in to win trophies and build upon what we had last season. Santos didn't accomplish what we wanted in any of the competitions (UCL, Liga, Taca). I'm not a big fan of his tactics either. So should he stay or go?

It all depends who will come, realy it makes any sense to change of coach every year?:rollani:

Maybe Koeman should have not leave then.

So FS have one more year in my opinion.

I hate coaching changes every year myself, but the fact is I do not think FS is the man for the job. I'll admit, the guy won me over when we were making the run for the Campeonato and the Uefa Cup, I thought he was doing a decent job at the time, but he completly lost me after the Espanhol home game. The team didnt have a killer insticnt in big home games this year. Boavista, Porto, Braga, and Sporting all crucial games AT HOME and we drew every single one of them. Not to mention the Espnahol game.

He was very predictable with his subsitutions. Every game no matter what you knew Derlei and Mantoras were coming in. He left in my eyes good players in the bench like Paulo Jorge, Miguelto, and Mantoras, without giving them a chance but yet played the same players every game while we were competing for 3 competitions.

With all that, and we that general feeling from the fans that they want him gone, I do beleive LFV will give him another year

i think he should go....we didnt win the league, ended 3rd; we didnt win the cup, nor even went to the final; we didnt make it past the group stage in CL and didnt smash the uefa cup...overall it was a poor season, so i think he should go as no goals were achieved

It is my strong belief that a decent manager would have won this league with the exact same resources. Fernando Santos seemed like a terrible choice before the season started and confirmed everyone's suspicions after the season ended.

Exactly...imo he had a better team than Koeman's side, and failed to do anything with it. At least Koeman had a team with Beto in the line-up playing the CL quarters.

FS should be fired immediately.

....There was also a conspiracy against Sporting to keep them out of 1st place by 26 points. The conspiracy is about to be revealed in a public judicial forum soon enough. It's hasn't anything to do with Golden whistles, but with Golden Showers, as Sporting Administration and coaching has conspired to piss all over themselves this season.

Remember the lineup he had to trot out for the ManU home game?

Benfica: Quim, Alcides, Luisao, Anderson, Leo (Ricardo Rocha 90), Nuno Assis (Joao Pereira 73), Petit, Beto, Nelson, Nuno Gomes, Geovanni (Mantorras 80).

What's wrong with Nuno Assis? Miles better than the other three bolded players.

koeman should go down as one of the worst coaches to step foot in our stadium as a home manager, without very few to rival with. On what regards clueness and cockiness together, he shares the crown with artur jorge

You should show more respect to a man who scored 72 goals in your jersey.

Really? It's funny, because whenever a job comes up in England his name is usually mentioned as a very good coach, he obviously has good PR. I think people fall for the 'he's foreign he must be better'.
The attitude a coach should be given at least two years at a job obviously doesn't go in Portugal, though.

In the same way Koeman has a bad reputation in Portugal and a good one in England, Eriksson has a great reputation here and the worst possible in England.

Nuno Assis played an awsome game, Joao pereira will suck forever, Beto got lucky and happened to score a goal and Geo was at times our best player combining a hard placed shot with outstanding speed.
