1-1 at HT

goal from paulo jorge, who is playing very well, and own goal to make the tie, a quim blunder

played well until we suffered the goal...after that...our game went down...nothing new here, as the team has been showing difficulties overcoming this kind of situation

for sure doesnt help the utter repulsive behaviour of many of the "fans" (?) at the stadium...once more the behaviour of some of them was disgusting :rollani:

as the team leaves the pitch, massive booing.....repulsive really

4-1 final.

Watched the whole game... what a joke that goal was by Aves. Quim let it slide right through his legs, looked like a clown.

Aves' defending was terrible all game long, Benfica's first two goals were headers that went over the goalies and defenders due to poor marking.

Karagounis' free-kick goal for the 4th goal was a thing of beauty... fantastic strike.

awesome reply from the team during the 2nd half

nuno made the 2-1, simao the 3-1 (penalty) and finally karagounis closed it with 4-1 with a great free-kick

How can you say that?

The ball went through his arms... and then through his legs. He didn't have both knees down, just one, and the ball went right through.

How can you say the ball didn't go through his legs?

I was too afraid to watch this match after my American Football team lost today Fortunately, we won today I heard FS was supposed to change the tactics for this match.

How can you say the ball didn't go through his legs?

it went both through his arms and legs, in the end...but its because it went through his arms that it was a goal ( and a blunder) ...because, looking from the way he positioned himself, he was clearly expecting to hold the ball between his arms and his chest...thats why he didnt close his legs beforehand

You don't play professional football just assuming the ball will be somewhere.

That's schoolboy goalkeeping to go down on one knee like that and not ensure the gap between your legs is smaller than the ball. If he had done that, even if he missed it with his arms, it would've hit his knees and stayed out.

'Expecting' to do anything in football is a recipe for disaster.

It was a massive error, even Fernando Santos said it after the game in his interview. He admitted all keepers make mistakes but Quim's was a bad one letting the ball _go through his legs_.

Who said I was shocked?

I refuted your point that it didn't go through his legs when it clearly did. Then your next post admitted it went through his legs.

Very simple, really... you were wrong and then corrected yourself when it was pointed out.

my point was that the blunder came out of him letting the ball slide through his arms...not the legs.....the legs were in a position they often are when goalies take that kind of defense

obviously, being that close to the line of goal didnt help either, so the blunder became in fact, a goal

anyways, here we are discussing a blunder, and letting go unnoticed a massive defense he made during the 1st half, when it was still 0-0
