You're welcome, my dear
I yet haven't made my choice. Should I follow my bias and go for Mantorras? Or follow the voice of a long time admiration and give it to Petit? Should I praise the outstanding efforts of Nelson especially at the beginning of the season or make my voice be a premium for Nuno Gomes, our main marksman this season? The rebell inside me calls for Quim, just for the sake of rubbing it right into Cuman's nose. Miccoli for his magic, Luisão for inspiring a brilliant defence, and Simão for simply being Simão are also on my list.
Well, I'll announce my choice soon.

Agora não, que joga o Benfica! (Deolinda)

i think u have only missed Leo there

but yes, this season......im very undecided.....i think we had 4 players that for the number of games played, for their consistency all through the season and for how bad we played when for one reason or another they didnt play....my vote will go to either

- leo ( wow...great player, great professional, great spirit and absolute key in many many games)

- nuno gomes ( he's our main reference in attack, and when he got injured we kissed bye bye to anything other than the 3rd place...this time not only did he work for the team as he was finally able to score a bunch of goals again !)

- luisão ( what a player he has become, appart from one or two games, he was a rock, perfect positioning, great team spirit and consistency)

-petit ( im so so inclined to pick him...this is mr fight spirit and mr consistency in one ....he had a close to flawless season, even better than last years, as his passing skills have evolved....he's absoulte key, a true Patrão in our team, the kind of player they dont make anymore, whos all about sweat , blood and tears ...i dunno how many players nowadays would play with a broken leg...but i have no doubt petit would have to be dragged off the pitch )

oh what the hell! im gonna vote for petit lemme follow the impulse or else im never gonna take a decision

Are opinions of Dragões also welcomed in this thread?

Imo, if I was to make an ideal 11 of the 05/06 league, the Benfica players I'd not hesitate to include would be Luisão, Léo and Miccoli. Of these, my favourite is Leo. He's by far the best in his position in the league. Maybe that's not too hard with the remaining set of rivals, but Leo has done more to make sure he's just that. He defends, he attacks, he has incredible stamina, but above all he always seems to choose the best option. How often didn't we see him starting what looked a hopeless raid into the other team's half, without any obvious solution or passing line? Yet he always seemed to find a way to clear the apparent difficulties, keep the ball and in the meanwhile inspire the rest of the team mates (and the fans) to come forward and follow the example. He has also been excellent at defending, and if the positioning momentaneously fails, he corrects the fault with his speed and, voilà, it is as if nothing happened in the first place.
Definitely a player I wouldn't mind having in my team.

By the way, I now see the need for a disclaimer:
In my previous post I identified myself as Dragão followed by a smile with an S of Superman, which in this combination can be meant to represent Super Dragões! I wish to say I have no connection whatsoever with the group of *supporters* that go by that name. :rollani:

thank god for that

no worries, u dont sound like one

thats the thing, most porto fans arent super dragoes, nor appreciate their..."contribute"...but sadly they still find a way to make their "presence" well aware

yeah right...it looks like "os superdraguões" now are a bunch of rebels that never had any support from the club's board and were always hated by the "true" fans...that's balelas my darling

all the boards of all the Big 3 are responsible for the despicable behaviour of those filhinhos do papá that in each one of those clubs pretend to be the elite of the club's supporters...

in what concerns my team I have no problem in singing along with anybody that chants...Oh Juve Leo vai p'ró...

the boards are responsible yes, the other fans not really.

But the boards no doubt.

im ok with organized fan clubs, it does bring "coulour" to the stands, the problem is when they act like animals, destroy property, attack people, and even the insults to rival teams are imo unnecessary. the way i see it, they should focus on praising their club, thats all

actually, last summer a friend got me tickets to watch portugal - slovakia....and it was with a claque i didnt even know there was a NT claque

actually, there were several at the stadium lol

so i ended up entering the stadium with them, and i have to admit it was great fan, lots of cheering and chants, nothing nasty nor dangerous

although, already inside the stadium, at some point the police had to clam down some elements from another claque which was a few seats above "ours"

No, I think Beto is too good for any Portuguese team...he should be playing for Chelsea...
