MT 15: Benfica - Nacional

It's getting hot ... we're facing a rival at the top of the table now in a game that cannot but be a must win for Benfica to remain in the title race.
The match will be played in our beloved cathedral:

Kick off is set for next saturday (tomorrow) 7.15pm local time

I suppose the following team to start:

GK Quim

RB Nelson
DC Luisão
DC Anderson (Ricardo Rocha)
LB Léo

DM Petit

RW Geovanni
MC Manuel Fernandes
LW Karyaka

FC Mantorras
SC Nuno Gomes

Seems like Simão is still injured, well and I reckon Koeman will chose a slightly different line-up, for example playing Geovanni upfront again and therefor due to the tactical changes, Alcides as a right back subbed in for Mantorras who's place will be occupied by Nuno Gomes, with the open right wing-spot to be filled by Nelson ... confused? Bet we all know what I mean though the sentence structure is admittedly confusing.

Força Benfica!

Agora não, que joga o Benfica! (Deolinda)

very confused

anyways, im not sure about manuel's condition, and i sure dont want to see him going back to the docs anytime soon sooo.....i would still be keeping beto for this game....also, i would leave nuno assis ahead of the DM's, would let nuno back on striker position, would move geovanni back on the right wing, and yes i would play karyaka on the left

ill make a drawing to make it more simple p:

Code:

               quim

nelson luisão anderson léo

           petit beto

geovanni nuno assis karyaka

           nuno gomes
this game will require another 90+mins of effort and hunger for victory :fero:

let's take them down

The dailys are saying Geovanni will play on the left with Miccoli up front.

We really need to win this one. REALLY, REALLY!!

poor game so far, we need to put some speed on it....

alcides must come out so that nelson can go back to play as RB, geovanni si playing terrible, he leaves leo alone all the time on the left....

we need to move him to the right , and make someone come in for that left, be it karyaka or nuno assis. i wouldnt mind seeing someone coming in for beto either, he is playing very poor

oops sorry...it was not on purpose...

congratulations for your victory.
it was good for three reasons:

it gave more points to portuguese football in uefa
it showed that smaller teams can beat the heavyweights of europe
it will tire your players so much that eventually they will start to lose it in the league

In Portugal, they make it look like a huge scandal a tiny little touch in the GK. If it were in England, they would laugh at anyone who had the nerve to say it was a foul.

The last time I checked the rules are the same wherever you are.

To prove it remember what happened in the quarter finals of the Euro 2004 when John Terry did the same to Ricardo...the English press also crucified the ref that had the guts of whistling a foul but the truth was that it was really a foul...just like yesterday.

oh plez, so what if it was a foul? i will admit it was foul, even though imo diego didnt miss the ball becoz of luisao, they both jumped, diego misses the ball and gets under luisao's arm when they are already descending

but so it was when luisao was made into a sandwich in the box...do u wanna talk about it as well?

or when ...who was it, andre pinto? im not sure which nacional player was, that hit petit on the face....he could have been expelled no? he didnt even see a yellow card...our refs suck, what else is new

Good to see Nuno Gomes on the scoresheet again just when Meyong was about to draw level on the top of the hot-shot-list. Go for it this year Nuno!

It wasnt a foul, but there is a fifa law that decrees using a player from your own team to gain a height advantage is illiegel. And Campbell was climbing on Terry, so (even if by lack of judgement) the call was correct.

As for the Nuno Gomes goal against Nacional, Diego jumped into Luisao. How was it a foul? Handily, the keeper only started holding his face after the goal was allowed!
