Official UEFA Tournament: SL Benfica Thread

This is the official UEFA Champions League thread for SL Benfica. Anything relevant to SL Benfica's participation or pursuit of the UEFA Champions League should be posted in here. However, match threads may be created and will later be archived in this thread.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, we will actually participate in the UEFA Champions Leage this season. The draw will occur tomorrow or should I say later today. Will be interesting to see who we will draw in the group stage.

MU
villareal
lille
benfica

not bad

MU for the $, villareal is a good team, but accessible, and lille is definetly acessible, so good draw

porto's draw is the easiest

inter (behind closed doors)
porto
glasgow rangers
artmedia

anyways, we have a chance there, BRING OUR FORWARDS PRONTO!

ps: dod i mention we not playing italian teams???

I can't wait for us to meet you lot, it will be a classic euro night at Old Trafford and i'm sure Mr Eusebio and Sir Bobby Charlton will enjoy this meeting. Benfica are a classy team and I hope you go through along with us!

Thanks for the words Yolk, we too are looking forward to those great matches in Old Trafford and Estádio da Luz.

I think there's a clear favourite named Manchester United. Benfica and Villareal will probably battle for the 2nd spot, but you can never underestimate Lille, even though they should be the weakest link of the 4.

I think we can pull out a second place finish if we play to our best ability which we always tend to have trouble doing. It is critical that we pick up another striker for Koeman to run his style of play.

Yes,we can make this dream come true of being again a top european,we have all the chances to finnish second
Against Lille,we will play two times at home,so. :smileani:
Vilarreal,we will win at home,i am sure of this,in Spain we have to try to make one point,if so we are in the last 16,unless vilarreal can do something against Man Unt.
About Man Unt,well one point will be very good at home,in Old trafford, well no chance, and i am scared of this game, btw. p :smileani:

expect plenty of reference to 1965 (5-1 to us at your place wasn't it?) and 1968.

seriously though, I'm looking forward to this. Benfica always tried to play decent football (even when you had Brian Deane and Pembridge) so I'm expecting some great matches.

No need to talk smack. We've been absent from CL action for awhile. We're both very historic clubs with tons of silverware. I just hope the OT fans give us a good welcome; I'm pretty sure they'll be welcomed over here

How awsome is it to see Benfica back in the CL?

Just as long as ther will be no embarrasing results I am happy

Don't worry.... it only seems kinky the first time.

Good luck for Benfica as I would like that they go through.
But to be fair, I think that they won't take a chance in this group. Hopefully, I might be wrong.

I was quite optimistic when I first heard of our group but after weekend's performance I'm not so sure anymore. Manchester United are above us I think, the other ones (Lille for sure) draw level. If we finally find the scoring touch (the incredible scoring-touch of last season ) back we stand a slight chance to make it ... at least we should be third in the end to make the UEFA Cup.

Agora não, que joga o Benfica! (Deolinda)
