Benfica 1-0 Sporting: The Game of the Title!

48 hours left for the most exciting game of the season. The winner of the match will have 99,9% chances of winning the Superliga. Porto will be playing at the same time against Rio Ave, and if they're unable to beat them, the title will be decided this Saturday.

So, what are your thoughts on what will be a breathtaking match?

this is gonna be one hell of a game! and im all scared but even more hopeful

we have to win, so thats a good thing, because if a draw was enough trapatoni would make us defend through the entire 90mins, and that would makes us lose the game for sure!

sporting will most likely try to play on counter attack, since they have an advantage over us in case we draw

anyways, they are with a very hyped moral, and that is usually an advantage to us, everytime they think they gonna win it easy, we do, so...im trusting this time will be the same way

i would line us up like this

quim
miguel - luisão - ricardo rocha - manuel dos santos
geovanni - petit - manuel fernandes - simão
nuno gomes - karadas

i would rather keep mantorras in the bench, coz imo hes way better coming out of the bench in 2nd half, and its good to be able to pull out from the bench a player that can "save the day"

anyways, trap will most likely play nuno assis.....

the same way for Douala, who I think might be benched.

This season, Benfica never gave me enough confidence before the big games. I'm not thrilled but I think Benfica will win.

Your words in a football-god's ears, LPC ... after havin spoken five weeks ago of 7 finals to come back then (those were the days ), this will definately be our final, a make-or-break-situation at its clearest. We just have to make it, otherwise we can probably wait another 10 years to get this chance again ... c'mon Benfica, make this season our season. We've been waiting for too long now!

What are the odds one or both teams will finish with 11 players? A long shot bet, but I got a dollar to burn.

Ideally, I'd want a win in which we get a penalty on a Karadas dive for the winner. Sweet irony, where art thou?

As long as Karadas, Bruno Aguiar, and Quim sit the bench we're fine. O.K., 2 out of 3 ain't bad but I still think Moreira is better than Quim for many reasons.

I'm with Pila on this one, I doubt both team will finish with 11 but the good thing is, we don't have a diving Leidson to deal with this time.

ahahaah i was wathcing telejornal just now, and they were doing a piece on sporting, and guess what was one of their (the journalists) main concern?
whos gonna score the penaltyLOL
yeah u heard it well...they were asking the coach, and then the players, who will score the penalty in case it is necessary. they said it will be sa pinto..so they to interview sa pinto and they talked about it for a while!

afterwards, they did the piece on benfica and guess what...nobody asked us who will score a penalty

conclusion:

its always good to know in advance that sporting will score a penalty :rollani:

is the media carrying them on their shoulders? naaaahhhh

Why do you think Moreira is better than Quim?

For one, the only shot Quim can stop are those directly at him...
Distribution, Moreira sees the field quicker and easier than Quim, he gets to the open man as quickly as possible...
Lastly, the goal by Penafiel last week should've been saved...It's what seperates world class keepers from the pretenders...He got a good touch on it but not enough...A Buffon, Toldo, Robinson, Cech, hell even Tim Howard would've made that save...

And before you say he's not world class, he gets called up to his country all the time which makes him elite....He needs to play like he deserves Portugal's shirt....

I think Moreira definitely has more potential than Quim. Quim's definitely more seasoned, though.

I'm okay wit Quim starting for the remainder of the year. Next year, it'll be Moreira's job to lose (again).

So why is he playing over Moreira?

Moreira lost hi sjob when he let in 4 goals against... I can't remeber who. None were really his fault, but Trapp felt he wasn't communicating with his back line enough.

That's been our problem all year is that back line...Andre Luis got toasted last week on that goal...It's the CB's responsibility to communicate with keeper and have that communicado given out to everyone in the back...

Well, Quim must be more talented then in describing to the likes of Luisão and RicRocha what has led to him letting another one in

It's the other way around - it's the keeper's responsibility to dictate to his CBs, he has better vision of the field, not being directly at the point of attack.

Guys, such an anxiety is difficult to bear.
I didn't think about the match during the day, but now that it's 22:25 i don't know what do do. I'm going mad really.
If we win the title, the celebrations will be huge. So much suffering will make the victory a lot tastier.

FORÇA BENFICA!
