I'd be disappointed if you went through with only a 6 in the second leg Bono.

I would definitely have the sense that you were being given a bit of an easy time of it in going through to the semis.

I think we will see some higher scores in this round compared to the first leg of these quarters.

From my point of view I can only hope that I am one of the predictors with a much better score in this second leg

You're getting your Cerro's mixed up

There is a Cerro and a Cerro Largo in the league.

Cerro playing Danubio, Cerro Largo playing River Plate.

Nice new design on the soccerway site btw

well here is my thinking ... i won the first one 6-5 at home; then as far as i know away goals rule applies; now i am away. so - if i score 6 again, you would have to score an 8 to eliminate me. That is of course possible, but 8 is a serious score. I was the top predictor among the remaining players in the last two rounds and i scored a 6. The one before (last round of reg season) there was one 9 and two 8ths but everyone was less than that. And that was an exception. In the second from last reg round, the top predictors had max 7.

So , my thinking is i should qualify with a normal 6 in most of the cases, most of the normal prediction game.

and no, i wont consider that "getting a pass", "easy time" at all. In the first leg you lost to the top predictor of the leg (me) by only one point.

You better ask Reis if away goals apply.

I thought if the tie finished equal than the performance of the predictor in the group stages take precedence (whoever got the most predictions in the group stage correct) rather than an home and away scenario that in reality doesn't even exist.

Maybe you are correct.

If so that rule is a bit of a silly rule

Bono you were the top predictor in a round of low scores.

As said I think we will see some higher scores in this round.

The first tie breaker in KOs stage is highest single point scored over that 2 leg tie.

So if bono scores 6 again, Maturin will 'only' need to score a 7 to qualify. That's written in the rules thread

Thanks for clearing that up.

It seems a bit silly to decide games on so-called home and away "advantage". There is no home and away "advantage" in this game That should be left to proper football matches where indeed the away side is rewarded for away goals or whatever

Has this home and away advantage that doesn't exist ever been refered to? Surely the predictor who gets the most right in the group stages should take precedence over an imaginary home and away advantage.

I only ask you because you have obviously read the rules

Did I go through in the last round due to away goals lol alm:

I better check because that is a daft ruling in relation to this game.

No I didn't go through in the last round due to away goals.

Went through because I had the better prediction rate in the group stage.

Thank god for that.

I would have felt rather guilty in going through on such a silly ruling

If that is true, my theory that 6 should be enough, is out of the window ... I dont know why but i remember away goals apply. And dont get me wrong - i dont think that rule would make sense as there is no home or away here

No you didn't! The group stage didn't matter. Otherwise I would have beaten Moe. It just matters who has the highest score in the KO round. So if in one leg it ends 2-1 and in the other leg it ends 11-12 the one who scored 12 in one leg goes through.

I drew 7-7 in the first leg and 5-5 in the second leg.

So how come I went through then?

I didn't get an overall higher score than Ezekiel over the two legs.

As it seems that it is a great effort for some of you gentlemen to click on the rules thread and actually read the only post in it, here is the knockouts tie-break section of it:

Tie-breakers:

In the Knock-out Rounds:

If you’re equal on goals after the 2nd leg, the following criteria apply:
1) Higher single score (e.g. 6+4 is better than 5+5).
2) Direct duel during the Group Stage (if both were in the same group).
3) Goals scored during the Group Stage.
4) Highest single score during the Group Stage.
5) Tie-breaker (to be played before the following round).

I've been playing XCC since 2005/06 and these never changed. If a silly away rules existed it's from before that season.

Maturin did go through because he had a better overall number of points than Ezekiel during group stage.

Tigerheart was eliminated because he scored 5+8 in the Round of 16 against 9+4 by Moe.

Ok, it is as I thought it to be (read the rules thread... ). I just didn't realize Maturin actually drew twice. That's obviously why #3 applied for him, I thought it was the same case like with me and Moe where each one won the round by one.

Nah you're not Bono

You're just not as in a good position for the second leg as you thought you might be.

Even though I said overall the scores were quite low in the first leg you got a decent score.

I'd rather be in your position and leading by one with a 6 as would no doubt everybody else in the same situation.

Yeah Maturin but this round is easier as it has more known teams so higher scores are possible but also bigger number of mistakes ... Leading by 1, I would have preferred a low scoring round w games from timbaktu, Nepal and the Virgin Islands
