2014-2015 Europa Cup

Toro is off to a promising start with a 3-0 win over Brommapojkarna. I was most impressed with such a strong showing given that we were without several prominent names in the line-up.

How far can we go?

Made it to the group stage!... with a good chance at progressing. With the likely departure of Cerci looming, hopefully the lineup can adjust quickly since Torino drew the toughest opponent, away, with the first game.

Squad Values (as of 8/28):
79.3 - Torino
52.8 - Club Brugge
28.2 - Copenhagen
07.5 - HJK Helsinki

I noticed the possession was 51/49, but shots were 17 to 3 in Torino's favor (0 on target for Copenhagen). Yet an extra time PK was needed to get the win... Weird game.

TORO 5-1 Copenhagen

Wow! That should lift our hearts. Granted, Copenhagen was down to 9 men. But nice to see Martinez and Amauri warming up.

Hopefully this will lead to better things in the league.

It will be interesting to see how Martinez develops. Very exciting possibilities for him if things come together. Amauri is what he is at this point, and while I think he could be a useful player, his game is not at all suited to the style that Torino is playing this year. Not only does Torino play exclusively on the counter, but that counter doesn't really involve getting many support players into the attack. It's more designed for fast attacking forwards to try to take on a defender in space, arguably the thing that Amauri does worst.

I'm all for anything that will help improve the club's league performances though. So here's hoping

Huge match tonight against Atletico Bilbao. Sounds like it will be a full house. Anyone in here going to be there?

First 45mins was good, last 45mins was very bad and Bilbao was unlucky not to win.

Grande Result!

Atletico 2-3 TORO

Goals from Quagliarella, Maxi Lopez, and Darmian.

Wish I could have seen it.

Fantastic game, amazing result. Bar the last 10 minutes, which was just too nervous!
