No surprise, but still a dark, dark day for all of us.

Cairo's got his work cut out for him. The road back to "A" starts now.

Rubin was very impressive at left back on Sunday, both in defence and attack. Is he a good prospect?

I'd say so, yeah. He blew out his knee last season just as he was coming to prominence and that affected his status, particularly in the NT setup, but he's still only 21 and has a great future ahead of him. Fingers crossed Toro can hang onto him.

Thanks. Is he potentially good enough for the azzurri after the 2010 WC when he will be 23.

That's a tough call, and I'd be interested to hear what others have to say. Just among other young players, Criscito (22) has had a great season at left back/left wing for Genoa, and is in the team going to the U21s in Sweden this month. Another young dark horse on the left is Davide Santon, who looks to be in with a shout to go along to South Africa for the Confederations Cup, even though he's only 18. His natural position is on the right, but he established himself on the left for Inter this season, and played well there in his one appearance for the U21s.

IMHO, Rubin will need to really excel to even get himself into the conversation.
