Serie A Matchday 33:TORO vs siena

Serie A Week 33 - 26/4/09 (14.00 UK)
Torino - Siena

Stadio Olimpico

It will be a must win game for Torino as they welcome Siena to the Olimpico. The Granata are only one point clear of the relegation zone and any false step at this stage of the season could cost them dearly. The Piemontesi have only collected three points in the past five games and were hammered 5-1 by Milan at the weekend.

“Some of the players are not collaborating and it is clear that we aren’t on top form, otherwise the President wouldn’t have changed two Coaches,” noted Giancarlo Camolese. “At this point I have to get the best out of my players but they need to learn to be more careful and play more as a team.”

Siena are in a good position and have matched their pre-season expectations. Standing 11 points ahead of the relegation zone, the Tuscans have got no relegation worries but will still be heading to Turin with winning intentions.

“My players were too relaxed against Chievo,” explained Marco Giampaolo following their 2-0 home defeat. “Perhaps the four goals we scored against Bologna made us believe everything was easy. But anyway we are learning good lessons for the future.”

Camolese should opt for a defensive 4-4-1-1 formation. Claudio Rivalta is set to start, while Ivan Franceschini may be preferred to Paolo Dellafiore. Alessandro Rosina will be the trequartista behind Rolando Bianchi.

The Granata injury list is incredibly long at the moment and includes the likes of Nicola Ventola, Paolo Zanetti, Andrea Gasbarroni, Marco Di Loreto and Eugenio Corini. For the same reason the Bianconeri will be missing Massimo Maccarone, Luca Rossettini and Gianluca Curci as well as ex-Toro man Nicola Amoruso, who is suspended.

Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos will take the gloves while Goncalo Brando should start in defence. In attack it will be up to Abdel Ghezzal to make up for the absence of Maccarone. The Frenchman has so far scored five goals this term, two less than the Italian.

Keep an eye on: Alessandro Rosina (Torino) – If Toro go to Serie B then the chances that Rosina will follow them are slim after an unsettled campaign at the Olimpico. However, the midfielder is the Granata’s most talented player…

Last season: Torino 1-1 Siena

Form guide: Torino (L L L W L) Siena (L L W W L)

Torino (probable): Sereni; Rivalta, Natali, Franceschini, Rubin; Abate, Dzemaili, Barone, Diana; Rosina; Bianchi

Siena (probable): Eleftheropoulos; Zuniga, Brandao, Portanova, Del Grosso; Vergassola, Codrea, Galloppa; Kharja; Ghezzal, Calai˛

Ref: To follow...

Final #1 coming up...that's a long injury list, but I think we can to it... I'm a little unsure about taking such a defensive lineup into a must-win game though, we can't afford to get anything except for three points. Other games this weekend:

Bologna-Genoa
Chievo-Udinese
Reggina-Juventus

We probably have the easiest fixture on paper, but at this point in the season that means absolutely nothing.

Shit, they're missing a lot of good players while it seems like a lot of ours have recovered. The absence of Curci, Maccarone, Z˙˝iga, and Amoruso will benefit us greatly, but this is a team we cannot take for granted.

Bianchi

Gasbarroni

Rubin - Abate - Dzemaili - Barone - Diana

Franceschini - Natali - Di Loreto

Sereni

Bench: Calderoni, Ogbonna, Rivalta, Dellafiore, Sńumel, Rosina, Ventola

Is Gazzetta's possible lineup, though we could see Rivalta or Dellafiore instead of Di Loreto, Sńumel instead of Barone and of course Rosina instead of Gasba.

Chievo 1-2 Udinese...

I don't think this is the time to be experimenting with youngsters.

Crucial win, great goal by Bianchi. We definitely have what it takes to stay up. Too bad about Di Loreto, I hope Ogbonna and the likes can step up and take over. I think Camolese is a refreshing change of pace for the squad, who were obviously not going anywhere under De Biasi or Novellino. Still a long way to go though, FORZA TORO ORA E SEMPRE!
