This one is a midweek game, and I don't know what else to say but another must-win, especially now that we only picked up a point at Lecce. These are the kind of games that not only matter points-wise, but as tie-breakers should be end up tied at the bottom end of the table. The positive part about the Lecce result is that we have now won and drawn against them. If we can beat Reggina on Wednesday then we also have a positive tie-breaker against them (as the other result was 1-1).
Reggina are doing worse than we are, believe it or not, and have brought back Nevio Orlandi. This could be a mixed bag for us, as while Orlandi is not a particularly brilliant coach, he has been at Reggina before and knows the club and much of the team, and I've observed that managers get positive results on their debuts, more often than not (obviously we all know this is not always the case). They lost to Chievo this Sunday, which means Chievo are level on points with us and they are at the bottom of the table.
We sit 18th by virtue of head-to-head with Chievo (that being an away draw), but we need to get the hell off the bottom of the table. We are two points behind Lecce, who are interestingly enough away to Chievo, so for the second week in a row the bottom four teams are playing against each other. Aside from a win for us, the ideal result in that game would be a draw, which would lift us out of the relegation zone should we win, again by virtue of our head-to-head with Lecce. There is also the possibility of going level on points with Bologna, though they would be above us due to the 5-2 thrashing they gave us.
As for the game itself, because we do not want to talk too much about other team's games, there are a whole host of missing players, but we should still be able to field a good team. Most alarmingly, Natali is suspended, which means another defensive change, while Barone will finish out the second game of his suspension. Its mostly the bench players injured though Rubin is still injured, along with Zanetti, Abbruscato, Pratali, and Pisano. Diana has been having fitness issues and probably won't start. This is our possible team:
Rosina - Abate
Säumel - Corini - Dzemaili
Ogbonna - Di Loreto - Dellafiore - Colombo
Bench: Calderoni, Diana, Suciu, Vailatti, Amoruso, Stellone, Ventola
A very positive lineup, IMO. My only two concerns are that we might lack a bit of punch in the midfield, we'll have to see how up to the task Säumel and Dzemaili are (we can't expect Corini to do a whole lot of defending) and also our defense. Obviously injuries and suspensions have forced more changes, but our depth right now is perilous. If we lose a central defender we will be forced to put Diana on the left-back spot (!) and move Ogbonna inside, which would not be good at all. Novellino will have to attack if he wants to win this game, and luckily the lineup will reflect it. Reggina are missing probably their most potent attacking player, Brienza, which is a relief for our defense, but we'll definitely have to watch out for the likes of Corradi and Cozza. Otherwise their lineup seems average at best (though Lanzaro is a solid defender) and this is a team we should beat if we expect to stay up.
FORZA TORO PER SEMPRE!!!
