Serie A Matchday 9: Torino-Atalanta

We absolutely MUST win this one. De Biasi is almost certainly out if we lose, but we very much need the points. Atalanta have done fairly well so far this season. We have to watch out for Doni of course but Padoin is also a threat. We will also be facing former Toro captain Diego De Ascentis. They are missing Vieri and Cigarini, among others, so some of the attacking threat is reduced, but like I said, Doni will provide more than enough problems for our defense.

Only Malonga, Corini, and Sereni are injured while Pratali has returned from suspension. Though we have an evident gap in the midfield without Corini, Calderoni did fine in the derby with the exception of the goal, which he could have gotten down quicker to save.

Our projected lineup:

Bianchi

Rosina

Rubin - Dzemaili - Zanetti - Abate

Pisano - Pratali - Natali - Diana

Calderoni

Bench: Fontana, Colombo, Di Loreto, Säumel, Barone, Abbruscato, Amoruso

We certainly have the attack on paper to put the Atalanta defense to the sword, but our scoring problems are still evident.

Always, no matter how we do...FORZA TORO!!!

Its a mental problem, at least that's my initial reaction. I think GDB is losing the locker room.

EDIT: Just saw an interesting Americanism in an article about Toro..."no pain, no gain." We can't achieve success without having to work hard and sacrifice for it. We can take this in two ways: 1) We are not working hard enough. 2) This is our rough patch and if we can pull through it we will come out the better.

I hope the latter but suspect the former.

Zanetti : I still remember my first day at Inter. I arrived with a plastic bag with my boots inside and I crossed the crowd of fans who were asking who I was. That's where it all started.....

According to TMW, De Biasi has some radical lineup changes:

Stellone-Amoruso
Abate-Säumel-Dzemaili-Barone
Rubin-Pratali-Natali-Diana
Calderoni

Both Bianchi and Rosina to start on the bench? Excuse me? We absolutely need to win and Bianchi + Rosina on bench with Abate on the wrong side and Barone on the wing? If this reporter is correct, I think GDB really has lost the plot.

EDIT: Gazzetta has something different, a little better but not a winning lineup, IMO.

Stellone-Amoruso
Rubin-Dzemaili-Zanetti-Abate
Pisano-Pratali-Natali-Diana
Calderoni

EDIT 2: The first lineup is right player-wise, but not formation-wise. Stellone will be at the tip of a trident with Amoruso and Abate behind him with Säumel, Dzemaili, and Barone behind them.

So Rosina ended up starting instead of Abate, with Rubin replacing Barone in midfield and Pisano slotting in at left back and we are still with the Christmas tree formation. Game has been spectacularly unspectacular, Toro are winning the midfield battle and have had a good deal more possession, but Atalanta have had the only two shots of the game, both off target.

Boring first half, Diana created a good chance and Toro played better towards the end, but 0-0 and right now it looks to stay that way.

And Stellone puts us up 2-0 just minutes after Amoruso's goal, but now Floccari has pulled one back...this game is getting exciting.

Looks like we're gonna try and hold on to the lead, Colombo for Abate and Di Loreto for Pratali.
