The Rolando Bianchi Thread

Since I'm a pretty big fan of Bianchi (aka Rolandinho) especially now that he has joined Toro, he gets his own thread! In all seriousness though, I've heard he's quite a nice guy off the pitch, is involved in the effort for peace in the Congo and is a good player to boot.

Regarding his relationship with the tifosi, it seems to have smoothed over as a got a warm welcome from the Curva Maratona last night. His decision to go to Lazio in January was mainly due to the fact that they gave him a better guarantee that he would stay in Serie A, an understandable sentiment from my point of view.

He has the potential to be a great player for Toro, perhaps the goalscorer we have been looking for. Benevenuto Rolando!

Mixed feelings. At the time I was still bitter and wasn't quite clear on his choice to move to Lazio but at the same time I think he was terribly unlucky, that's a tough thing for anyone to go through on their debut and clearly put a damper on his spell at Lazio.

The former Reggina hitman has managed to further aid Toro痴 cause by using the 」1.75m 壮everance pay to cut his price-tag.

This means that effectively Torino would only pay 」2.4m for the player.

what's that??

560-175=240??i am confused

I'm not entirely sure myself, but my best guess is that he had some sort of payout clause in his Man City contract should he leave before his contract expired, and he used the money from that clause to help pay the transfer fee. Very generous of him if that's the case.

Anything else you want to add?

Here we have a dilemna. While Bianchi is certainly one of the biggest investments we've made this season, all our success on the pitch, except for the Lecce win, has come without Bianchi. http://toronews.net/?action=article&ID=10358]This link sums up the situation nicely. One thing I noticed is that it says he was working with Luison, our physio, despite the fact that he is physically fit. Apparently he is having psychological problems which can be conveniently described as "injuries". It also points out that while effective in the Palermo game, Stellone was not as good as he had been in the past few games. This combined with the fact that Bianchi provides some depth up front and better ability to hold up the ball has caused some to question GDB's decision to bench Bianchi despite the coach's success in recent games. Right now it seems as if he and Rosina are set to continue on the bench when we travel to Catania, but things can definitely change before Sunday.

Here's hoping that he can discover his form as I know, as I'm sure many Toro fans do, that he can be a valuable asset to the team. Its him and Rosina that can be the keys to our success this season. Rosina is on his way to being "normalized" and one can only hope Bianchi follows that road too.

Absolutely magic interview with Bianchi in Tuttosport today.
Quote:
Toro is passion. And sacrifice. And pride. And a sense of belonging. Tell me how many other teams, after a demotion, would be able to take more than a thousand [fans to] Grosseto, on a Friday in mid-summer. Toro has been able to create this magic. Toro has very solid roots, [it] is a faith that is handed down from one generation to another. We now need to play our part, we must convince many children to root for Torino: there is only one way to do that. Winning.

I was cynical about him staying, but I'm not anymore. Online excerpt here:
