Serie A Matchday 10: Udinese-Torino

We travel to a midweek match vs. Udinese on pretty good form, having gotten seven out of nine possible points in our last three matches. Further good news is that we will probably see the debut of the best striker in the squad, Di Michele, whose ban ends October 30, the day before the match. Gazzetta says he will start on the bench, but I hope he makes an impact as soon as possible. We are missing Rubin for the long term, and in addition are missing Franceschini, Barone, Grella, and Bjelanovic to injury. Natali still has one game left on his ban received after the sending off against Atalanta. Hopefully we will see Recoba play a good amount of time.

Probable lineup according to gazzetta.it:

Ventola
Recoba-Rosina
Vailatti-Corini-Zanetti
Lanna-Dellafiore-Di Loreto-Comotto
Sereni

Udinese are a really hard team to read sometimes, they play well enough of the time but also are prone to weird results. Napoli beat them 5-0 in Udine, but they've also gotten great results away to Inter and i ladri. They're unbeaten in their last four games, beating Lazio 1-0 away today, and before that the two most recent results being draws, their last defeat coming away to Genoa back in September. Currently they are sitting 7th, which is where we want to be. I think a draw would be a creditable result here, but if we can grind out a win like we have against Samp and Cagliari, I'd be pleased. Hopefully Di Michele can do something against his former club. Udinese have a potent attacking three of Di Natale, Asasmoah, and Quagliarella, but the rest of the team with the exception of Mesto and Felipe don't look to be anything out of the ordinary. They will likely line up like this:

Di Natale-Asamoah-Quagliarella
Dossena-Inler-D'Agostino-Mesto
Lukovic-Felipe-Zapata
Handanovic

Forza Toro!

Not bad, just have to switch around Di Michele and Ventola. Also, I dont know about Motta in a 3 man midfield........If those 11 start maybe Novellino will play Rosina on the left wing and move Motta out to the right wing

Zanetti : I still remember my first day at Inter. I arrived with a plastic bag with my boots inside and I crossed the crowd of fans who were asking who I was. That's where it all started.....

why?????why unsure??

It's lame, but they are not sure of the exact end date of the ban, whether the last day is actually the 30th or the 31st. Udinese raised the issue and now the club is saying they will just move his debut to this weekend (Milan away).

I feel like this is the sort of thing people would be clear on, this is really lame on the part of pretty much all parties involved - Di Michele and both clubs.

I would expect to see Motta move up to the AM position Di Michele would fill and Bottone come in at midfield. Either that or Ventola can drop to AM and we can start Stellone at lone striker.

You've gotta love Italy! Can you imagine the Yankees saying, "Well, we're not really sure when Alex Rodriguez's suspension is over (HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW???), so we'll just rest him an extra game or two."

Keep on pushing guys.

Part of the problem is not that he was suspended for a certain amount of games, like players are with regards to discipline, or most American sports players I can think of. Of course its still lame. I don't mind unleashing him on a struggling Milan though.

Udinese 2-1 Torino the final score. Udinese are a good team that are doing very well, so its not too disappointing. Vailatti was sent off late in the firs thalf though, and I wonder what things would have been like had we been playing 11 v 11. Ventola scored our goal.
