Serie A Matchday 7: Torino-Sampdoria

-

We won this fixture 1-0 last year, but somehow I feel this might not be the case again this year. Though this is the first fixture of this year that we also won last year. That being said we really need to step it up and get a win, otherwise the drop zone will be where we most likely slide to. This is the last matchday before the October break, and if we don't win now then I'll worry. To add to our problems, Barone is now out two months and Natali ten days. This in addition to Franceschini, Vailatti, Lazetic, and Stellone is getting to be pretty bad injury-wise. Some teams, most notably i ladri are very lucky, but we are not. We have to create our own luck to get through this season. Rosina should be back though our only bit of good news.

Ventola
Recoba-Rosina
Grella-Corini-Zanetti
Lanna-Dellafiore-Di Loreto-Comotto
Sereni

Perhaps one thing we can hope though is that Samp will put more attention on their European game where they need a win/high-scoring draw to go through, making our job a bit easier.

But no matter what happens, forza Toro per sempre!

FORZA VECCHIO CUORE GRANATA!

Zanetti : I still remember my first day at Inter. I arrived with a plastic bag with my boots inside and I crossed the crowd of fans who were asking who I was. That's where it all started.....

Samp has just been knocked out of Europe after drawing 0-0 away to Aalborg. I wonder how this bodes for our match this weekend? Will they be out for revenge or will they be down on their luck?

Hmmm, I wonder how he can do there, I've never seen him there. I would almost prefer a player who is more natural at that position (AKA Di Loreto, but he is doubtful apparently).

This injury crisis is not coming at a very good time, AKA when we need a win. Luckily we have a very solid keeper in Sereni, but he can't do it all.

1-0, thank goodness. We can go into the break on a positive note.

Corini with the goal off a deflection, but as far as I'm concerned, we're due for a bit of luck ATM.

We do have to worry about more fitness issues now though. Recoba was fit enough only to come on at the 68th minute and come off 20 minutes later, while Comotto and Di Loreto were both not called for fitness reasons.

Hopefully these next two weeks are kind to our players fitness-wise and we'll be ready to travel to Atalanta on October 21.

Walter Novellino: “I am incredibly happy. The side is playing well and I have to compliment my players on a great game. We are like a gorgeous car that is going through its test run. When you have so many youngsters and change many elements, it takes time to gel.”

Walter Mazzarri: “The red card decided the game. Up until that point we had been playing well and in fact I’d say that the first half was our best performance of the season so far. Antonio Cassano impressed when he came on.”

Highlights:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=W3ryjme0b0I

Sereni had some crucial saves, the first one on Delvecchio was great and that second on Cassano was important, but also very lucky the way it ended up striking the post. With 11 v 11 we looked decent, but not great, but during the second half we really should've made more of our chances. It was good Corini was there, as Malonga's shot might or might not have been going in. All in all a positive game for us, and while its not our best, it is certainly something to build on.

Just realized too that we only have two more games to wait for Di Michele's return, away to Atalanta and home to Cagliari before we are away to Udinese October 31 and can field our ideal attacking trident:

Di Michele
Recoba-Rosina

*drools*

I really doubt we will see Di Michele as a lone striker, but I think its something Novellino should try. Unfortunately I think Novellino will stick Recoba and Rosina on the wing and play a 4-4-2

---------Di Michele----Ventola
Recoba------Corini----Grella------Rosina

Something like that. Hopefully not though, as it will make our midfield too lightweight in my opinion

TBH, I like the formation we're playing currently, and Novellino is known for not playing with wingers. However, I could see what you suggested happening, but I agree, it makes our midfield too lightweight.
