Welcome Walter Novellino!!!

“Torino are pleased to announce that a two-year contract has been agreed with Walter Novellino,” read a note posted on the club’s website.

“President Cairo wishes to welcome Novellino, an experienced and competent Coach, who will start a journey with the club leading to Torino’s growth and development.”

I don't even care if he plays. I just don't want him to get paid to lay on the trainer's table.

Those are sort of my sentiments. The thing that makes me a little more optimistic is that Novellino has gotten the best out of Recoba.

He has started with the usual arrogance. "I already have clear ideas. You will see". p
This is an annoying thing he has learnt at Sampdoria in the last one year and a half, when the team was far from brilliant and blames poured in on him from everywhere.
Truth is that Novellino does not do miracles, he can obtain good results if the team is not too bad, but the way of playing of his teams is boring to say the least. If he has the right players he will surely adopt a 4-4-2, with two wingers running down the flanks, two center midfielders hardly leaving the center of the midfield and just working as a connection between the two flanks and as a barrier for the opponents, one forward who has to be strong in the air, work hard... and mark the playmaker of the opponents! and another forward who has some more freedom.
If things won't go the way he likes he will surely blame the players and those who bought them. p

I'm ready to give him a chance. Though Cairo is definitely feeding Novellino's ego, promising ten players to "give the manager the team he deserves". TBH, after a year of De Biasi's "systemless" football followed by a year of 3-4-3 and 4-2-3-1, a good old-fashioned 4-4-2 wouldn't hurt and would at least get us results. I can't speak for other granata, but I can safely say I'd prefer results to good football at this point in time. Let us worry about results now and good football when we have less to risk. We aren't expecting miracles, we're expecting to do moderately well in Serie A. If we do well in the mercato I think he has the capabilities to take us to a UEFA spot. And who knows? Novellino could have a fluke great season! Zac had one or two, so surely Novellino could?

Cairo must be more careful to what he says. The supporters here in Torino have recorded his words and now expect ten players, but ten TRUE players, not Oguro, Pancaro and Coco. p

I too expect ten true players. p

Do you know what Oguro's situation is anyways? I've read very little about him in the year that he's been here and I think he's started like 6 times. I just assumed that he was always behind Stellone and Abbruscato in the pecking order for attack. Maybe if we had used 2 strikers/one of our coaches had tried him out when we were lacking goals (all season), he could've had a better impact.

Oguro is above all a mysterious player, some of my friends who support Torino say that he is not so bad, other say that he is definitely bad but at least he commits himself... and can't be worse than "Bruschetta". Truth is that he has never been given a proper chance. I doubt that Novellino will give him the proper chance.

Konan has disappointed me. He used to score great goals when he was at Lecce. I doubt that Novellino will revitalize him either.

PS how many homes does Novellino have? Probably one per every club he trains.

Nice glasses. Wonder why he wears them just now that he has moved to Torino.
