Azeri clubs in Eurocups 2012-13

New eurocup season is upon us. This year we have Neftchi representing us in the Champions League, Baki, Inter and Khazar in the Europe League. Garabagh which did a good job in Europe in the last three years is taking a break from Eurocups this year.

My expectations are somewhat on a low side. I don't expect big heroics this year, though I wouldn't mind to be wrong.

Baki and Inter will be among seeded teams in the first round of the EL. Khazar is yet to find out its place in the draw.

I had a quick look at some topics from the past - this is our eigth European campaign to be discussed on this forum

At first, there are always some hopes and expectations - at the end, disappointments. Interestingly, this time my expectations are not high as well. Apparently in such cases nice results please you even more.

At least Baki and Inter (hopefully, Khazar as well) are among the seeded teams, so even in present conditions they ought to pass the first round. Neftchi will certainly need some luck with the draw - they might again face some really tough opponents and then their campaign will be as short as last year.

Khazar will also be among seeded teams in the first round. Maybe now they'll be able to pass at least one round :rollani:

I don't know why, but I believe if someome can make it this year then it is Khazar. Of course they won't reach the group stage, but might pass at least two rounds.
I believe in Yunis.

our football needs a big jolt of confidence boost and for that we need either good run from clubs in Eurocups or good showing in WC-16 qualifiers. Preferably to have both of course

Thanks, Gate11!

I also agree, our teams got pretty decent opponents in their first round match-ups.

The funny thing is Baku only two days ago had a friendly against Mura and won 4:0. Zestafoni is a tricky one, but Neftchi is more than capable of advancing.

Whatever, pathetic no matter what
Iyrenmishem...
GL though

I'm done with our NT, they drive me crazy!
As long as they not beat somebody I know and score at least twice, I'm not interested.
Please let me know when that happens
