Euro 2012 Qualifications - Azeri Campaign

I know this thread is too early to open, but our WC2010 qual.cycle is finished and we must now focus on Euro 2012. Looks like Berti will stay, and young players nicely developing.

The draw for the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying round will take place in Warsaw on 7 February 2010. Unfortunately, we are in last pot..however, we can face liechtenstein again.

UEFA will use a qualifying system with six groups of six teams and three of five teams (Poland (26620) and Ukraine (28866) - automatically qualified as hosts).
http://www.football-rankings.info/20...cients_16.html

Good group for us could look like this:

1. Croatia
2. Greece
3. Austria
4. Latvia
5. Liechtenstein
6. Azerbaijan

Bad group:

1. England
2. Turkey
3. Bulgaria
4. Hungary
5. Montenegro
6. Azerbaijan

In either case we seem to be screwed.

but I don't think this is the final pots distribution. We probably won't change our position, but some other teams might.

Finally, we got pots sorted out:

Quote:

Last pot is not good for us, but on other hand, I would like to get Liechtenstein or Moldova

It will be good, if our group will be made of 6 teams not five.

From top 2 pots, I would prefer Czech and Russians. I am most worried about England/Spain

decent group - we played all these teams before with varying degree of success. So let's see what we do this time.

We sure did get the toughest group. We have to find our game early if we want to get at least 6 pts.

At this point I really don't know what to expect. It is way to early to make predictions. But looking at it, I think we indeed got the toughest group.

Given the circumstances I'll be happy with 10-12 points

Ballack will be dropped against us, so dont expect him. Additionally, Arne Friedrich, Jerome Boateng, Dennis Aogo, and Thomas Hitzlsperger are expected to be left out due to injuries.

Gjoko today criticized Vogts by saying he is not doing enough

Quote:
Mən səmimi danışmaq istəyirəm. Əslində isə bu yığma komanda daha baxımlı nəticələr əldə etməlidir. Mən vəziyyətə real yanaşıram. Tənqid də etmək istəmirəm. Amma “Foqts bravo” da demək fikrim yoxdur. Belə desəm düzgün olmaz. Nə var onu da deyirəm.

I don't want to prejudge Gjoko comments without knowing context. There are a lot of truth in his words. Putting aside my personal dislike of Berti, as a human being, which goes beyond his qualifications, as you all remember I was always saying "show me the money". Only good argument someone may have after 2.5 years as a proof that they know what they are doing its to show some results, unfortunately we have none so far. That is the bottom line and in this sense I completely agree with Gjoko. This cycle will be critical from this point. Nobody have a guts to stand up to Berti and his handlers in AFFA. He basically was doing whatever he want for the last 18 months. That is why I'm pretty sure if we'll start this fall with 3 defeats in a row, which is very possible, there will be big pressure on him and AFFA to do something. I'm not screaming "Istefa" after game with Germany but very well might do so after game with Turkey in October. One thing is very clear to me, although it seems very quiet on the surface, there isn't much patience left for Berti and he better do something about it.

I'm done with our NT, they drive me crazy!
As long as they not beat somebody I know and score at least twice, I'm not interested.
Please let me know when that happens

Kazakhs looked tough despite losing 3-0 to Turks, I hope we pull plug on them
