binding decision was to have been made by mid-April, but has now been postponed until June 24.

Under the UEFA regulations, venues for the matches must be decided no later than 60 days before the scheduled games, which are due to be played on September 8 and 12. Donetsk in eastern Ukraine has been mentioned as a likely neutral ground.

so basically an ultimate deadline is July 8th (60 days before the game).

do you think that maybe your federation will change their mind and let the Armenian players come to Baku because if I was them, I would prefer to play against Armenia at home because you've been doing well in your last two home matches - beating Finland 1-0 and holding a 1-0 score against Poland for an hour. I'm looking forward to these matches, will be very tense and also funny to see how many red cards there will be lol.

I find all this situation over Armenia - Azerbaijan matches so meaningless. We are planning to host World or European Wrestling Championship in autumn. Also, World Gymnastic Championship is going to start in Baku(if not already). And it is more than certain that Armenians will participate in that championship, and if they win, we WILL definitely raise their flags and play the anthem.
Also, we wanted to host Olympic Games of 2016 in Baku. Would we say that Olympic Games MUST be without Armenia if the situation over Karabakh would not be solved?
I am very patriotic person, and support my country in that bleeding issue that makes us enemies with Armenians. But I also understand that all the nations in the world had problems with neighbours, and the only way to solve the problem is starting respecting and accepting each other. And this can only happen when both sides start to think more with their heads than with their asses.

Yo, Nyuka, bro. Where have you been? Yeki kisisen, herden bir bize bir bas cek

I would personally prefer games to be played in Baku and Yerevan. But most probably the decision will be to play our home game on the neutral filed of our choice (Turkey? Ukraine?) and away game in Yerevan where armenian side fully accepts responsibilities and is ready to bear consequences if something happens.

I won't mind the Azerbaijan home game on neutral ground and the Armenia home game in Yerevan. In all logic it's the only fair way. If you guys can't play your game in Baku that's fine, just as long as Armenia doesn't have to sacrifice their own home game because of that.

EURO 2008: Spain offered Armenian and Azeri National Teams to play in its territory
07.06.2007 16:55 GMT+04:00
/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Spain is ready to give its fields for holding a match between Armenian and Azeri National Football Teams in the framework of the European Cup 2008 selection round. Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos made this offer during his visit to Baku and Yerevan this week, sources in the Spanish MFA informed on Wednesday. According to the information of those sources, Armenian and Azeri authorities reacted positively to the initiative of Madrid. In case of their agreement, the final word belongs to UEFA President Michel Platini. The sources say that Miguel Angel Moratinos had a telephone conversation with Michel Platini on Wednesday. The latter welcomed Spain’s initiative, offering to discuss it on the level of football federations of Armenia and Azerbaijan. National Teams of both countries play in the same group “A” of the selection round of the European Cup 2008. Their first meeting is scheduled for September 8 in Azerbaijan, the return match may be held 4 days later in Armenia, “Radio of Russia” reports. The fate of both matches is not clear because of political differences on the Karabakh problem, diplomatic sources in Madrid underscore.

Does it mean that both sides agreed to play in Spain?

Spain is pretty random. But hey, neutral is neutral. I guess in Spain neither team will really have any kind of advantage. Neither side really has any kind of large diaspora in Spain I think.

I still would prefer Armenia's home match in Yerevan, especially if security is guaranteed and everything, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be.
