Foreigners in Azeri football

Hey, guys, here some interesting statistics about foreign players in Azerbaijan. If you would like to add something to it, I would only appreciate it. Your inputs are highly desirable and very welcomed

Apparently, in our league, we have representatives from 27 (!) countries playing for our teams.

The most popular country of origination is... Serbia (who would have thought :rollani: ). There are 13 serbian legionaries playing for 6 azeri clubs.
On the second place we have Brazil, Nigeria, and Ukraine with 8 players each.

The most popular positions among legionaries are defense and midfield. Almost 65% of all foreign players in Azerbaijan play on these two positions. 25% of foreigners are forwards, and only 10% are goalkeepers.

While looking at them, we can also find that quite a few of them either came from or played before for some "big" club. Among past clubs of our legionaries are teams like russian Spartak Moscow, ukrainian Shakhtar and Dynamo Kyev, brazilian Corinthians and Botafogo, serbian Partizan, french Saint-Etienne, turkish Fenerbahce and Besiktas and ets.

And heres the complete list in the alphabetical order:

Albania
Argentine
Belorussia
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Brazil
Bulgaria
Burkina Faso
Congo
Cote d'Ivoire
Croatia
Georgia
Ghana
Guinea
Korea
Latvia
Macedonia
Moldova
Nigeria
Romania
Russia
Senegal
Slovenia
Tunis
Turkey
Turkmenistan
Ukraine

So, guys, let's discuss, who do you think are the best foreign players in Azerbaijan, and which club do you think has the best and worst transfer policy.

I'm one of the baddest motherfvckers of all time, one of the best singers and one of the best looking motherfvckers you've ever seen. Hold my drink, bitch!

Neftchi and Baku have made the best foreign transfers in our league. Karvan and Xazar made the worst since they signed any random foreigner without quality.

My top 10 without order:

Issa Nikiema (Turan) - Burkina Faso
Georgi Adamia (Neftchi) - Georgia
Valeri Abramidze (Neftchi) - Georgia
Tomislav Mishura (Neftchi) - Slovenia
Asen Nikolov (Turan) - Bulgaria
Leandro Gomes (Baku) - Brazil
Fernando Perez (Baku) - Argentina
Vladimir Makovski (Inter) - Belarus
Vadim Borets - (Neftchi) - Moldova
Andrejs Stolcers (Baku) - Latvia

PFC NEFTCHI BAKU

Brazilian Junivan Suares from Turan started pretty good - 4 goals in 2 games. Let's see how consistent is he but if he continues this pace he might become one of the best foreigners in our league.

Apparently some clubs from Turkish Superleague are interested in Pathe Bangura from Genclerbirliyi. He's among the top goalscorers of Azeri Premier League and proved to have some serious skills, so if everything goes fine then we may soon see him in Turkey. Hopefully Genclerbirliy will also make some good money from this deal

Unfortunately, no.

He was very beloved by the fans, but in the end something happened between him and Rasim Kara and he was sent back and given the fact that he had only one year contract, the management decided not to extend it.

FC Baku latvian striker Andrejs Stolcers got a call from Latvia NT coach Jurijs Andrejevs for the King's Cup friendly tournament in Thailand. This marks the end of Andrejs' one year absence from International games for his country.

"I never felt myself as comfortable as in Azerbaijan" - an interview with Burkina Faso international Issa Nikiema

Quote:

they have several black players in Karvan - brazilian Ernani, and Bamba and Camara from Africa. And I have to say these three are very high quality players, especially Bamba.

and have you heard this?

Televizorda "Gyezen"in sefer oyunlarından biri yayınlanır.

Yesterday AFFA approved the new regulation according to which now each team can have no more than 5 foreigners in the roster and only 3 foreigners can be on the field simultaneously (3+2 rule). This definitely came as an unpleasant surprise to our clubs who will now have no room for erroneous transfers.

Also all naturalized foreigners who are not living in Azerbaijan for two years, will be considered as foreigners.
