Seems stange for them to lose that friendly by such a heavy margin to a nation like Israel. They are an improving side and that is characterised by the Euro qualifiying where they beat Serbia at home and drew with them away coming from 2 goals down.

Hm, Azerbaijan has a good season in this year.

They won against Kazakhstan, it was first away victory in their history, than today beat Uzbekistan 3-1 one of the giants of Asia.

Gurbanov is in good form, he scored 3 goals in 3 matches in the national team in this year.

Thanks!

My team Neftchi finally made it to the 2nd rd. It was a great game yesterday.

So far this season has been the best season in Azeri history, we are starting to improve. I'm looking forwards toward WC qualification.

Too bad Hungary isn't in our group, we would have got some sweet revenge.

Hehehehe, I don't know why, but Azerbaijan is always suffering heavy losses from Hungary. Against others they are really good at home pitch.
A country, that we can beat! (not many nowadays)

Yes, you and Slovakia

But that looks to be changing since we beat Slovakia 2-0 last time. :fero:

Maybe for Euro 08 qualification we'll meet up

Well I like our chances here and I think it was a good draw. CSKA is a team that we know and see many times, we played each other during Soviet times and so they are nothing new to us.

The first game is at home and it will attract a large crowd and hopefully our players will perform a good game. Neftchi is more of a technical team than CSKA but they have more big names and are a bigger team. I think if we could finish our chance in Baku, something we couldn't do against Siroki (but still won) I think we could take a 2-0 into Moscow and there fight for our lives in Moscow to at least only lose 1-0 then we'll go through.

By the way, from what I hear CSKA is suffering from the Vardar syndrome

The good draw would be the hungarian champion :undecide:
I think, if the Neftchi won't get a goal in home pitch, it is a chance to going through the last qualif round.

well we tied Neftchi 0-0 in baku today. I'm still confident we'll pull it out in Msocow, but with Gazzaev as coach u never know.

Congratulation to Neftchi.
As I said above, they have a chance to go through.
It will be a very hard match. The russians will attack from the first mins. If they won't score in the 1st half, they are very nervous I think.

Yeah, its a preety decent result for us, if only we could have snatched a goal at the end it would have made it easier in Moscow.

But on the other side i fancy our chances because Neftchi has experience playing away and all we have to do is score 1 goal even if we tie we still go through.

By the way, Azerbaijan managed to tie Serbia 2-2 away and Gurbanov, a neftchi forward, scored both goals.
