Punkette B. !?!

My best, most artistic photographs of the wild, I've taken with my old Olympus IS-200 (sidenote: can't believe the ridiculously low price - €30 - it's being sold for on e-Bay) but haven't digitalized them. Bummer! For instance, there's a photograph of an Icelandic solfatara which I'm particularly proud of - everything from boiling dark mud to yellowish soil, not forgetting the fumaroles and other the wreaths of smoke, the tormented sky, everything seemed to have been set for me to be there and capture that precious moment. Could easily have made a poster of that one. Fate! There are also a few more from the same 2007 trip in Iceland (of which you've seen snippets in last months contest) for which I've been complimented, including a peculiar shot of the famous Geysir geyser, night over Heimaey or bare bodies at Landmannalaugar hot springs for the voyeur dwelling in you. Ah well...

I'll try and scan them or perhaps I'll just take new, more 'valued, brilliant, risky, mesmerizing and titillating' pictures if I'm inspired to by Mother Nature. But I guess, for the time being, I'll have to do with pics taken with my digital device. I've got pretty sunsets and snowy valleyes in store but once again, I opted for Iceland (yeah, bad marks for originality but I'm a fan ).

1. Basecamp
Landmannalaugar is a very remote place in Iceland. In French we'd say: c'est le trou du cul du monde. It takes amphibian busses (glaciers turn to fords during the summer) and a couple of hours from Reykjavík to reach it. On picture is where the tourists pitch their tent (well sort of, soil's too hard for the pegs) and facilities before taking on the 3- to 4-days trek towards the coast. It was BEAU-TI-FUL.

2. Hydraulic Power
This is me crawling and bending over the impressive Gullfoss waterfall to take a picture from aclose. Technically, I didn't take that one but since it was shot with my camera, I own the rights. It shows shows how unsignificant we are compared to Nature.

****, that 2nd photo is amazing, Steph.

And the colour of those mountains in your 1st photo is very special too.

1. Red sky by morning, neighbor take warning...

One cold January morning, as I looked out the window, the sky seemed on fire. The light from the sunrise was reflecting on the clouds, making for a stunning scene.

2. Not quite beach cueca

While hunting the elusive beach cueca in Portugal, my search suddenly brought me face to face with the Atlantic ocean. Canada is on the other side, a mere 3000 nautical miles away.

3. The Hague's wild horses

The natural landscape of The Netherlands is that of the polder. So as soon as the city ends, the polder begins. That is the story with The Hague as well. This picture was taken just 10 kilometers away from the city center, yet it seems a completely different world. The Hague's skyline can be seen in the distance.

Coincidentally I was talking to some friends about my 2002 trip to Madurodam, the miniature city at The Hague.

Good pics everybody, thank you Please, we want more!

JawZ, I notice that your countryside images are very close to those depicted in Constable's landscapes. Different areas, but similar terrains?

3. St. Joris Bay, Curacao - Climbed all the way up the mountain for this picture. The island in the middle is a protected nesting place for birds.

2. St. Joris bay, Curacao - The other side of the bay, in the distance you can see the mountain I climbed for the previous photo. You can also see the mangroves that this bay contains.

1. Fort Beekenburg and Baya beach, Curacao - So far my best picture taken here IMO.

Very good pictures, people. Don't you love the world and the chance to participate in it?

Although all the pics are beautiful, I would like to praise 2 as my favorites so far.

- Steph's Basecamp is a real visual joy.
- Bo Yo's Horses. Very nice place and event. A wild "contamination" of the urban world. Did you plan the sky/land golden ratio or it just happened?

Thank you.

The ratio just happened. I took the picture while seated on my bicyle and this was how the landscape lined up with the camera.

That's where I always take visitors from abroad, when I show them around the city. You can see the entire country in just a few hours.

While you were there, did you happen to see the Panorama Mesdag? It's a 360 degrees painting of the panorama of The Hague's coast at Scheveningen.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ama_mesdag.PNG

It's usually overlooked by tourists, because Mesdag isn't very famous, but it's quite a sight.

Of course I have to! Don't wanna miss the chance to share my "point of view" with you.

I'll submit sth 'till April 16. Inspiration will come eventually.
