The Palace of Fine Arts (Bozar) in Brussels is having an exposition of Outsider's Art: the work of psychiatrical patients. This to celebrate Belgium's 175e birthday this year (make the connection yourself if you must )

If you're in the neighbourhood, entrance is free

We can bomb the world to pieces, but we can't bomb it into peace!

I like a nation with a sense of humour; unlike a nation with nothing but arms and armor Happy 175e, Belgium

Now for something a tad older ...

The handprints shown above are found in the Kakadu National Park in northern Australia. In this park, aboriginal culture that began 20,000 years ago is depicted in rock art.

Two artists come to my mind when this subject is broached:
One is Henry Darger:

The other, whomever carved the figure of "Laughing Sal" that stood for many years at Playland by the Beach in SF and later in the Musee Mechanique near Pronto Pup (She is our greatest bit of cultural heritage other than Jess, and her predictions have never steered me wrong!):

Now, there was another untrained artist, who's name I cannot remember, unfortunately. Maybe someone knows who he is. An Italian-American man, may have been from San Francisco, who drew very obsessive, incredibly detailed architectural drawings of fanciful palaces and other such buildings, after the psychic shock of his mother's death and something else, I cannot quite recall. Beautiful drawings, if I can remember correctly.

You know the scene it's very hum-drum
And my favorite song's entitled "Boredom"...

MOST UNLIKELY KING: Tsang Cho-choi, King of Kowloon, Hong Kong.

HONG KONG -- Tsang Cho-choi takes freedom of speech to the streets as the city's best-known graffiti artist. Tsang claims he's part of a clan that's inhabited east Kowloon for more than 2,600 years, and his street calligraphy is a written protest against the government for unfairly snatching his family's land. Nicknamed the "King of Kowloon," 76-year-old Tsang has recently gone trendy. A local designer has created a line of bed linens with a pattern inspired by Tsang's work.
