Liga BBVA | J33 | Atlético vs Levante

El día del Niño

The day when loads of kids are in the stadium and supporting their club, Atlético had plenty of problems beating their opponents in this fixture a couple of years ago..but lately, it's actually been good. Atlético beat Tenerife last year after Salvio scored his first couple of goals for the club, a couple of years earlier; 6-3 in a crazy game of football against Almería and then the pathetic display versus Osasuna when Masoud was Maradona.

We're usually guaranteed goals in these games, hopefully in the right direction. Plenty of players missing at Atlético tonight; Reyes, Tiago, Koke and Godín are all starters while Mérida is still struggling with a injury..

De Gea
Ujfaluši - Perea - Domínguez - Filipe Luis
Juanfran - Mario Suárez - Raúl García - Elías
Diego Costa - Kun Agüero

What about Levante thouugh?

They have lost one game since Sevilla thumped them on Sánchez Pizjuán in the end of January. 8 wins in the last 12 games, they're in brilliant form and just keep producing. Most points in the league after FCB and Madrid since the league turned, they're now fighting for a European spot, just like Atlético.

No margin for error, Atlético need to win and it'll be hard, no doubt about it.

The line-up above is confirmed.

UDL: Munúa; Javi Venta, Nano, Ballesteros, Juanfran; Iborra, Xavi Torres, Valdo, Juanlu, Montero; Caicedo

Btw, I think we'll struggle, especially if RG plays his regular passing game, we have no good passer in midfield now that Tiago and Reyes are out. We might actually see a guy like Noguera make his debut and he's been tremendous for Atlético B during the second part of the season when they've started collecting points again, also, would be nice to see Borja play after his ACL-injury.

Elias opened the score but Levante equalised through Caicedo penalty. Game is played in a good pace and Levante are pressing well. Kun needs to see more of the ball. Elias went into some good positions but should have done better in one instance where he goofed up the pass.

Now Filipe with a shocker of a pass when Juanfran was completely free at the far post.

3-1 Kun.

Easy penalty kick after Sergio Ballesteros accidently clipped Diego Costa inside the box.

Forlan comes in for Juanfran. Diego Costa moves to the right wing.

Assuncao in for Mario in the 80th minute. Been a while since I saw him on the pitch.

4-1 Raul Garcia scores off a corner. Munua to blame as he went too forward and Raul Garcia scores off his head.

Elias replace by Noguera.

FT 4-1

We dominated in the second half and could have scored more also. Diego Costa and Kun have a good understanding and it is going to be tough for Forlan to get into the starting eleven.

Despite his foul on the penalty Mario was immense today. Perea was good too. Elias took the duties as dead ball specialist today and scored a nice goal. A well deserved win and important step for the Europe spot ambition.

I want a draw in that match. Maybe we can sneak into the 4th place.

Aupa Atleti !!!!

Yo me voy al Manzanares
al estadio Vicente Calderon
donde acuden a millares
los que gustan del futbol de emocion
Porque luchan como hermanos
defendiendo su colores
en un juego noble y sano
derrochando coraje y corazon
Atleti, Atleti, Atletico de Madrid...

Real =
Barca =
