WCQ: Albania vs. Iceland 12/10/12

home match in exactly a month from today, while this match is very winnable Iceland are far from a pushover, wouldn't surprise me at all if they came away with a point (or even a win) they have some solid players in Sigporrson, Sigurdsson, and Gunnarson who quite frankly are much better then any players we have...but we do have players who should be match fit with the likes of Curri, Vangjeli? and potentially hear more about Basha and his situation....im sure people dont want to hear another Berisha post but the A-League is due to start around this time, he should be match fit and I would certainly not argue against calling him up at this time, same goes for Kapllani if he manages to keep up with his mini-hot streak he has at this moment....with all that said anything other than a win is a major disappointment, while I mentioned Iceland are solid they still have several players who are polar opposites of the ones I mentioned and they will be playing away from home and looking at their past results they have had little to no success playing away

we got Slovenia 4 days later @ home too so a very crucial two games that will make or break this qualification campaign

The line up I think De Biasi should start:

..............Ujkani........
Lila...Curri...Mavraj....Vangjeli
.......Kukeli....Cana...........
Roshi.......Brahimi....Hyka...
.......... Sadiku\Can

Agree? Disagree?

You're willing to bench Meha for Brahimi?

I like that lineup but just insert Meha in for Brahimi and a forward in for Hyka.

----------Ujkani
Lila--Curri--Mavraj--Vangjeli
-------Kukelli--Cana
Meha----------------Roshi
-------Bogu--Cani/Sadiku

This is assuming we don't get Basha, Azemi or who ever else.

We need three more players to make this team as good as it can. Azemi, Kace and Basha if its possible. These players will mean we have quality and depth for midfield and attack which is crucial. Hopefully DB realises that Cana is better utilised in midfield and plays him there.

Ujkani
Lila-Curri-Mavraj-Vangjeli
Roshi-Cana-Kukeli-Meha
Hyka
Bogs/Cani

We need a right back, a right midfielder and central midfielder.

Anyone?

I don't know either, so I'd say;

Ujkani
Lila-Curri-Mavraj-Vangjeli
Roshi-Cana-Kukeli-Hyka
Cani-Januzi

Or;

Ujkani
Lila-Curri-Mavraj-Vangjeli
Meha-Cana-Kukeli-Roshi
Hyka
Cani

Wont happen for many reasons but I hear Taulant Xhaka is eligible. :smileani:

His mother is from a village near Kukes and she got Alb citizenship in 97. (this is according to Redi Jupi) and he can play for Albania without a problem.

He's a very technical RB

It wont happen. Blame duka federation for that one. Such an obvious trend all the players who are good who play for us or are linked are all good because of outside development.

Also I took a look at the tables from the UEFA 2012 qualifications. Similar set up to FIFA 2014 qualification except there were 3 groups with 5 teams instead of just 1. In the groups with 5 teams i added 4 points to the total of the 1st and 2nd place team (not a perfect science i know but fair i think)
1st place teams averaged 21-30 points
2nd place teams 16-24 points

So, lets say 18 points can get 2nd in our group, which I think is totally believable as we have no true powerhouse and fairly even teams. Anyways with the following results we can get 18 points.

Cyprus 3 @Cyprus 3
Swiss 3 @Swiss 0
Iceland 3 @Iceland 1
Norway 1 @Norway 1
Slovenia 3 @Slovenia 0

With that setup we will have dropped 12 points total. Slovenia 9; Iceland 8; Norway 7; Cyprus 6; Swiss 3; Of course, the other teams have 6-7 other games so you can see why I think 18 is a good benchmark.

Good for you

At the touch of her lips it grew long and swollen. He gasped as she squeezed and pulled expertly. It was the best balloon giraffe he'd seen.

Hyka is undroppable as in the games against Cyprus and Switzerland when he came on we finally had a playmaker and started to dominate. He needs and deserves to start.

And as for Meha in for Brahimi, that is reasonable.

I thought he was Granit's younger brother? Unless if Granit's parents are from Albania as well although I think they are from Kosova.

But either way i'd like him on the team. But I do think Lila and Vangjeli are solid fullbacks.

If your from Kosova then you can play for Albania, all you have to do is apply for Albania Citizenship which will definatley get accepted.

It's his older brother(he's 21). Their mother is from Albania apparently and that's why they were always eligible despite playing for Swiss youth.

Question for the mods: Why do we have to have a separate thread for every game? Can't we just have one thread for the whole 2014 qualifying campaign?

Albanian trinity: Shpi-Vllazni-Fis.

I consider this the norm in XT. Every game has a separate match thread.
