A trully unbelievable site...

http://www.hetracil.com/index.html

NOT a hoax. Read the whole of it, including the "Disease Information" and "Ask your doctor" bits.

I have to say I'm amazed that something like this exists. Inside it even suggests electro-convulsive therapy as a treatment! And they market it like a proper medicine, casually labelling homosexuality a "disease".

Now, that is clearly a case of pseudo-science. I was wondering what is your opinion about things like that. Should any radical scientist (or not scientist) be allowed to market his theories like that, making money off unsuspecting people without any kind of control? Sure, science and research should be open to all kind of theories, but shouldn't there be a limit on what actually reaches the public in the form of medication? And how can a limit be established without far-fetched but legitimate research halted? After all, it is often the radicals that bring about change of something already established...

Interesting.
Shhh! Don't tell anyone. It's a hoax. Look at the disclaimer at the bottom of the 'Terms of Use'

Glen: "That last post of Bastin's is just too authoritative to argue against."

gOD: "It scares the f*ck out of me but I'm with Bastin here."

Cacěni: "Ah, there you go using that absurd über-memory of your's...not fair."

Boyo: "Even when it comes to rap, Bastin is an authority."

Attila_the_Nun: "A most respected scion of Misty Albion, the illustious Bastin - the redoubtable defender of all our noble traditions."

Humbird: "Bastin is very attractive when talking nautical! "

Way to blow the whole thing! Here was I thinking that we could be discreet and allow the socialists to let rip. :depress:

And I even made a small research about it on internet, and still didn't realise it was fake. Nice one Amo...

Imagine the television commercials if something like that were to exist though...

"Does showering with the guys in the gym suddenly get you as hot and bothered as R. Kelly at a Girl Scout meeting? Can you now dress yourself? Do you feel an inexplicable urge to watch Barbara Streisand movies? Are you daring your buddies to see which one of you can suck a golfball through a gardenhose? Then you may need Hetracil, the only drug guaranteed to stop you from being queer and to help you get your life back into gear!"

Why would you seek an opinion when you've already stated, "clearly" and dogmatically, the case in point...

I wasn't your opinion on whether it was pseudo-science (if it wasn't a hoax, it would be), I was asking your opinion about the other points:

Quote:

Sure, science and research should be open to all kind of theories, but shouldn't there be a limit on what actually reaches the public in the form of medication? Should be one of the best XT threads ever. I can easily imagine in a Nostalgia thread in 5 years from now, s.o. saying "And remember when Amo discovered Hetracil treatment?"
