White phosphorus

Oh oo...

someone went into iraq to prevent Saadam using chemical, biological and nuclear weapons....

and then they used them themselves...

some of the pictures of the bodies burned by it are really nasty...

so whats the justification for this?

You should be paying attention, Lav.. although I do admit it is getting complicated

It's all about WMD... or no that wasn't it
It was about Saddam's links with Al Qaeda... or no that wasn't it either
It was about freeing the people of Iraq from a cruel dictator who used to gas them... damn apparently that wasn't the reason either :irritate:

I'm really curious what they are going to come with now. I bet it will be good. It really is getting to a point where I'd be disappointed if Dubya would come out and say 'ok ok I admit it, it was about the oil'.

Sorry I just love propaganda :embarass:

We can bomb the world to pieces, but we can't bomb it into peace!

Has white phosphorous been reclassified as a "chemical weapon"? Didn't know that...

It's not atomic, biological, or chemical, and has not been banned by any treaty the US signed.

The administration did list it as a chemical weapon Saddam wanted to use. So their's the irony i guess.

But this white phosphorus is no WMD.

Well, it is a chemical weapon, but WP is not banned by any of the treaties. As I understand it, there is a treaty banning it, which the USA does recognize, but it says that WP (or any other incendiary weapon) can't be targeted against civilians. But, just about any weapon has that clause in most treaties.

It does look like there were some nasty civilians casualties from the use of WP.

...then they were grasping for straws, like with the claim that Saddam was good buddies with Al Quaeda.

White phosphorus can be used as a weapon -- it is most commonly used in smoke screens and signaling devices -- if it is dispersed in the air using a bomb for an air burst, but it doesn't cause widespread destruction.

tim it kills anyone in a 150m radius

you look like this guy

and then there is this

On November 15, 2005, Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Barry Venable confirmed to the BBC that white phosphorus had been used as an antipersonnel weapon in Fallujah.

"We use them primarily as obscurants, for smokescreens or target marking in some cases. However it is an incendiary weapon and may be used against enemy combatants. ... Yes, it was used as an incendiary weapon against enemy combatants. When you have enemy forces that are in covered positions that your high explosive artillery rounds are not having an impact on and you wish to get them out of those positions, one technique is to fire a white phosphorus round into the position because the combined effects of the fire and smoke - and in some case the terror brought about the explosion on the ground - will drive them out of the holes so that you can kill them with high explosives." [9]
from Wikipedia

the point is that they are against using this stuff, or so we were told, yet they use it on the enemy....if anyone used it on the USA it would be called chemical weapon, infact if any country other then the USA used it , it would cause an international outrage.....yet it did not even blip XT till i though that it needed to be posted

How come the guys in the pictures are wearing jungle camouflage uniforms? (the first pic at least). Not really standard issue Iraqi insurgent wear imo.

I watched the documentary produced by RAI News 24 titled 'Fallujah - The Hidden Massacre' soon as it was released. I decided against bringing it up on this forum as my respect for the deceased called for avoiding a mindless debate with the many Bush apologists who would be quick to justify his mindset.

Of course the majority of the American population couldn't tell Fallujah from Mad Cow Disease before any of this happened (and perhaps still can't), but they'd follow their commander in chief to hell if he so much as hinted at it being a threat. Ah, and all of this to equip the Iraqis with cellular phones and to install some Stock Market that Iraqis were doing quite well without.

Here's where you can watch it.

It all started with a Rai showing a documentary on WP...

http://www.rainews24.rai.it/ran24/in...a/en/video.asp

you can stream it or d/l.

Some might find scenes disturbing.
