We used to be ruled by Syria, so yeah pretty much noone was satisfied with our government unless their daddies/brothers/relatives worked and benefitted from the puppet regime.

Nowadays, nothing much has changed. Ya still have nepotism, disenchanted people, and the youth are fleeing coz there are no jobs in Lebanon...if there are, the pay sucks.

On the other hand, alot of people involved in social NGO's are starting to make life look a little optimistic with foreign sponsors (western) etc. At least this time in order to set up, they don't really need the blessing of our "big sister".

But in general, with the high taxes, hunger, homeless, unemployment, correuption, bankruptcy....Lebanese government has to pay attention to their people, and to the country's infrastructure rather than keeping the people on edge over the Mehlis report, and sanctions against Syria.

Just my two cents.

Don't lament the treachery of time;
long have dogs danced over the carcasses of lions.

Don't suppose that their dancing raises them above their masters;
for dogs remain dogs, and lions remain lions.

Insult me as you wish;
For my silence to the depraved is a response.

It's not that I have no response, but;
A lion does not reply to a dog.

No not really. The problem is not that the (Flemish) socialist are sell outs and the liberals utter morrons, that was known before, the problem is that the PM has absolutely no clue how to play the game of politics. If you compare him (Verhofstadt) to his predecessor Dehaene, it is just laughable.

Still if I look at other countries it could be worse, far worse.

We can bomb the world to pieces, but we can't bomb it into peace!

I'm mildly happy. Could've been a bit better, but could've been much much worse (as in communists going by the name of "social democrats"). Plus, the justice minister is great and just what we needed.

Not at all. Democrats want to intrude with their fiscal policy, Republicans with their social policy. Too many arguments are based on emotion rather than logic, and too many sheep support the party line blindly.

Canada ok? Andrija, after scandal upon scandal upon scandal haven't you decided that our government is a little less than ok?

When we vote in the next election we'll be keeping scorecards during the campaigns to see who we think lied the most. And then when the elected party takes power we'll find out that there were more lies being pulled out of the hat.

You're actually the first "non-Cake" Canadian I've heard say this country's government is okay.

The day anyone is "happy" with the state of their government is the day that complacency will rule.

With that said, I love my country and all that it has given me and my family. I am an immagrant from Germany and could not have asked for a better environment to pursue my own dreams. I would love to see some of my governments deficiencies corrected but all and all, it is a good government and one I'm proud to call home.

The secret of happiness is to make others believe they are the cause of it.

Hey, the sponsorship scandal, that's right, slipped my mind at the moment
I was doing a mental comparison of the government here (Canada) and the government there (Serbia) so this one naturally came out in a better light
Plus Paul Martin is what I was thinkin' about mostly, the sponsorship thing I associate with Chretien...the thing is, I dunno whether the Conservatives will do a better job...but the Liberals should be removed from power, yes, they've been at it far too long. I voted for the Conservatives last time, this time I'll vote Green. Seriously.

I'm overcome with joy and giggle like a schoolgirl over how Property taxes in my community have trippled in 5 years. Woohoo!
