Thank You to the International Community

I don't know if this thread belongs here or in the Announcements thread or wherever. If it belongs elsewhere then CM's or FM's please move accordingly...

I wanted to say thank you to the International Community for extending their hands of love, compassion, as well as aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I have my own personal reasons for having a vested interest in this madness but nonetheless, I wanted to make sure and call out the following countries and especially those who shouldn't donate (because of their own needs) but are recognizing that this is more than just helping out the "US" but helping out a region that if anyone has been too is filled with some of the warmest folks you'll ever meet from all over the world.

Rest easy Big Easy. We'll get you back up in no time.

Yes, thanks to everyone who's been supportive for that.

I found out yesterday that one of my cousins who works south of Biloxi, MS made it to her grandma's house in Tupelo...she's well, but the rebuilding process is going to be tough for her.

Very pleasant announcement. While some of the International Community's media seemed to be more interested in pushing their own non-scientific reasons for the disaster than in the plight of multitudes of poor people in mortal danger, it is good that genuinely helpful supplies were donated by quite a lot of countries.

My brother in-law had an old surfboard that he used to paddle for over a day with his dog in a tupperware crate right beside him. He is now in Tuscaloosa, AL and to say not hearing from him on Wed-Friday was torture in this household. In addition, a couple of other in laws were in the middle of the madness as well. Yesterday we've found out that all are "home." Well, as home as it can get and right now that means somewhere safe.

I wonder who have been accepted/asked for in these cases, the Swedish delegation was still "on hold" last I heard, altough I have not heard anything today about it.

Canadian aid has been told to hold as well, I think. The response has been so overwhelming that it is not possible to accept everything at once.

Canadian aid was requested. The USA requested an emergency aid package from Canada of supplies. This is a fact.

I am very happy to hear the good news, Sammy and Flo.

As Dennis, my favourite congressman said the other day, "indifference is the real weapon of mass destruction." Big up to you--the International Community!

Yep, ain't that a slim glimmer of hope, with countries like Cuba, Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Thailand, etc... offering to help?

I hope the city and its inhabitants recover as fast as possible. Even though I've never been there, I always considered NO one of my fav. US places outside California.

I'm not normally a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman.

However, if the decision stands, we're the victims; whether we play Azerbaijan or not, they still get no points and we lose ours.

Cuba: Fidel Castro, an adversary of the United States during his decades in power, has offered at least 26 tons of supplies and mobilized 1,586 doctors experienced in disaster assistance, each of whom would bring 27 pounds of medicine

We offered a doctors and logistic team to Indonesia and they took it. We offered the same team to USA and they didn't accept it.
Ok, we all see that you are doing a good job yourselves.

same with france. we had to wait until yesturday to send 3 planes with rescue stuff and men. but now they are there, they don't have agreement from US for operate. the representant of french humanitary said he never saw that. even in iran they didn't have that hard time.

I strictly have nothing to say but I want that comes out.
