Hurricane Katrina

Will be the strongest hurricane to hit Amercia in modern times according to those weathermen, we have to see how it hits before we evaluate, anyone here in that part of the world?

P.S will be interesting to see how this effects the Oil prices, I don't know much about this so don't take my word for it but apparently there are loads of rigs in that area and its where the National reserves are... Oil already past 70 dollars this morning, unless this is overhyped by the media I expect it to get to 75 dollars, maybe even 80 by the end of the week, depends how destructive this is.

Well if you build a city below sea level, in hurricane country...

Wait a second, clarify your post: You feign concern for the human dimension but then you start talking about oil prices...what capitalist piggish elitist crap is that? Hmmm? What's your agenda?

CNN did exactly the same thing, people aren't dead yet man, before then lets just hope everyone we know on XT that is near the Hurricane will be ok and not stupid enough to be online and reading my posts right now.

P.S about the Oil... only kidding, and don't say its no time to joke, wait for someone to die first, I hope nobody does ofcourse, but if they do R.I.P

I hope there are no fatalities from the hurricane, we are sort of blessed in this part of the world that we don't get weather like that.

Over 50 people dead so far and the news broadcasters seem more focused on reporting how much money the storm will cost :rollani:

What makes a person loot after a disaster like this? Most of the people looting in New Orleans their houses are totally destoryed and their first thought is to go steal a TV? Those people are the lowest most disgusting form of life on earth. I wouldn't really mind if the police shot those bums.

I was very proud of the fact after 9/11 and the blackout in NYC nobody really looted even though the city was basically open to looting. Those people are disgusting.

Very sad to see that the Mayor of New Orleans now thinks there could be thousands dead.

Not a good day, hundreds dying in the hurricane and hundreds dying in a stampede in Iraq

Natural disasters and violence seem to be on a massive increase in the world.... could this be building up to something? I have honestly wondered for a long time now

You couldn't help yourself could you Natalya? We mourn people in that part of the world everyday. Yet the one thread that gets created and dedicated to mourn people in a different region you have to comingle the two?

RIP to all the victims in Katrina's path.

I reckon that city will be dead after a struck of element of nature. It was unnaturaly build under the sea level and nature took it as it's possession showing her superiority to human being.

Sand but true. Condolences to all families of victims and all the people of New Orleans. Big Easy wont be the same city again.

Ussually it is hunger and thirst, after that it is the fact that they have lost absolutely everything, after that, it is ussually criminal bums. Hard to judge as it is almost impossible to feel empathy. God knows what it feels like to lose everything one owns and no sense of understanduing when they will be back to normal. Power is not expected to be back for 6 to 8 weeks in some places.

By the way, New Orleans, as bad as it is, its not even the worst of it, there are small town like Bay Saint louis for example, which lost 100% of the buildings and homes and who knows how many people.

Gràcies Pare, descansi en pau.
