RIP Mo Mowlam - a politician who opposed the Iraq war because she believed it was wrong. She was the opposite of Robin Cook.

Mo Mowlamwas a nice person from what I heard. She offered tea to anyone that entered her office, was laid back to anyone . She got cancer years back and I thought she beat it the first time, sad that she died. Nice of you to remember her Attila.

RIP

RIP Mo Mowlem

I was devestated to hear that Mo Mowlem died whilst I was away. She was a fantastic women and politician who struggled against cancer for so many years whilst forging a successful political career. She had to face many barbs about her looks from the tabloid press which led to her having to divulge her condition in fact of such appalling, sexist criticism. She did much in her time as Northern Ireland Secretary before being replaced by Mandleson, possibly one of the worst political decisions ever.

RIP Mo

Yes, even more than Cook, Mandy is the embodiment of everything Mo Mowlam despised. Mo refused every offer of free luxury holidays from wealthy 'sponsors' of New Labour because it could have undermined her integrity, while Mandelson's greed and corruption became so obvious he had to leave the Government.

Mo Mowlam's critics can say she seemed to have a Republican bias, not without justification, but for me even that is a positive because she spoke her mind.
The rest of the party keep their political opinions (if they have any) to themselves, meekly repeating whichever bit of management-speak drivel is the current Party line.

While Mowlam's popularity triggered her downfall by a cowardly whispering campaign from jealous, but anonymous, enemies, Lord Mandy of Rio has fared better. As an unelectable crook despised by the public, he is now (obviously) on the EU commission, where he is now making news for allowing imports of Chinese clothes into the EU, then changing his mind and having them impounded by customs, after more protests from his business 'associates'.
Mandelson the protectionist, betraying thousands of poor Asians to please his wealthy cronies - very left-wing :rollani: Still, I suppose he buys presents for his Brasilian boyfriend.
