Gas supply to Hungary

What's going on with this situation in Hungary? I've got the in-laws coming over to visit next week and they tell me they are concerned about the current situation with Russia and that the boiler and radiators may freeze up while they are over here?

Have searched a little on the net but cannot find much. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

Anyone?

Me? Nahhh, never. lol

In all seriousness though 14 people have viewed and read it and yet no fcuker bothers to comment or take an interest except you.

I wasn't trying to start some political bollox here about the inevitable future starvation of gas supply from Russia except to find out if anyone had genuinely heard anything from the Hungarian media.

Seeing as I speak bugger all Hungarian I was just kinda looking for a heads up.

Are the majority of posters on this site not based in Hungary (ex-pats) as it were?

It works well

Japanese auto maker Suzuki has stopped production at its plant in Esztergom, Hungary following the Hungarian government's enforcement of restrictions on industrial gas users. Hungary is facing gas supply shortages over the ongoing Russia-Ukraine gas pricing conflict.
Viktoria Ruska, a Suzuki spokeswoman was quoted by Reuters as saying that the company expected to restart production next week.

Russian gas exports to Hungary through Ukraine have been completely shut down and have not yet resumed.

Tesco to cut back on gas consumption until crisis ends

Tesco will cut back its gas consumption until normal supply is resumed.

Tesco is lowering the temperature in stores and using alternative electric heaters.

Tesco said it had stocked more than 10,000 electric heaters and oil radiators in its stores.

The majority are Hungarians born or grew up abroad. Or recently moved abroad. There are very few now who were born and live in Hungary.

The 'regular' Hungarians from Hungary.

Then of course you also have non-Hungarians in Hungary

source - Yahoo
BUDAPEST, Jan 8 - Hungary plans to use some of its strategic gas reserves on Thursday to ensure supplies to households and most industrial users.

Also this week it's been agreed that additional gas be provided to Serbia, so it doesn't look like a major problem:

The reserves have been opened, and all major consumers have been asked to switch to alternatives.

Reserves could last for 70 days, which are 3,5 billion m3 large. Further reserves are being built(old wells are being transformed to be able to push gas back into the ground).

As you can already see, major consumers have been cutting down on their use of oil.

The problem should be solved in about a month, so there should be no problem.
