Interesting thread, Soproni.
I have to say, trying to be as honest as I can, that the racism on Youtube and similar sites aren't something new and unusual. We all have racism somewhere in us. Only some choose to say it openly, and others choose for those thoughts to remain in their head. But then Internet is a place where it's easy for those thoughts to come out. You don't have to take responsibility for anything, why many put their opinions here. It's simply easier to put out your bullshit on the Internet, than in real life - and be forced to defend and stand for it.
For me, racism is when you have prejudiced opinions. In some minds, the racist is a person who belongs to the group who says their opinion openly. But then again, who do you respect: the one who say their opinion and stand for it, or the one who lets it stay in their head, letting it affect their life, but would never call him/herself a racist? Think about it.
I can openly say, that I have racistic opinions - just like everybody else. But every single one of those, are based on what I've seen in my life. They are not neccesarily fact for everyone, but they are for me. I meet many people who have racistic opinions about people they don't know anything about or have never even met. It's simply opinions they've picked up from other people, without questioning them. At the same time, these are often people who would never admit they are racists.
