Yeah I saw the score Bentex, Tatabanya played hard but at a -1000 favorite Debrecen you knew was going to win. I should have put my money on Debecren, I lost almost half my betting money on a -110 visiting team (Arizona), I handicapped it well though, they came back from a 2-5 run deficit, actually got the lead and only lost 8-7 in the 13th innining ... a 3 hour marathon I watched in a local pub over great ribeye steak. This guy at the pub kept wanting to buy me drinks and introduce me to his vietnamese bookie friend Lee, lol.
I then put everything I had in my account on the home Dodgers (-210) and go for broke, my team was down 0-2 runs in the top 1st inning, in bottom of the 1st the Dodgers scored 10 runs with 1 out left!! Whoa Nelly!!
Baseball is the most civilized and elegant sport I've ever had the chance to encounter, "warm soil" to feel great about.
In honor of baseball and what the Dogders did today, I'm changing my avatar to the greatest baseball hitter who ever lived that my brother actually met in person. My brother actually got an authograph glove from this legend. As kids we lived exactly one block away from the local ballpark named after him, and about 4 blocks from the house he grew up in North Park, San Diego. I'm talking about my dad's childhood idol, the "Kid
", the "Spendid Splinter
", "Teddy Ballgame
" - Ted Williams, great baseball man, legendary outdoorsman and patriot. :smileani:
