What is success in life?

moreover for you?

Some people have different views on this. Are you the type of person who thinks it's the amount of money you have? Fame? How many lives you've changed? bringing up kids? or simply to be happy in what you do?

For me its a combination of money (since its a material world, and money is a status symbol), hapiness and also bringing up kids in the best way, even though the last one doesn't count for me (yet p)

Success is when you are dead, people at your funeral are saying:

He:

was a good friend because he always listened.
was a great Father because he showed his love for me, while helping me through my life.
was a great coach because he challenged me to be better than myself.
was emotionally competent
knew who he was
a life long learner
was a great Husband because he loved me for who I was
understood what was important

That is success to me and that is what I hope they say about me at my funeral. Of course, I have to live it first.

One other thought...I agree with Bentex...money gives you freedom, but experience has shown me that it does not bring happiness. Money is about what you do with the freedom.

Happiness. Because if I'm happy that means I have everything I wanted from life.

Happiness is a subjective feeling. Someone is happy when getting drunk each single day. It doesn´t make him very succesful in my eyes.

it´s tricky question but I voted for money. Money = succes in job. Money = you can bring up kids in best possible way, putting money into charity, you can afford things others can only desire (f.e.travelling)

But if I have money and can afford all that, I'm happy, aren't I? Success is subjective: I think if a person is happy with their life, how is it going for them, how much have they achieved, then I say they're having a successful life.

it all depeds on scale of values of such a succesful man. There are bad people in this world who are happy with their lives and it doesn´t make them succesful in eyes of majority. Peadophiles, racketeers, football hooligans, drunkards, asocial people etc. Happiness is subjective feeling but succes is already measured by society´s values.

If I feel successful in my life (achieved everything I wanted), should I care what the majority of the society thinks about it? Like hell should I. Because I'm happy and in my eyes I succeeded in life. And re-your extremities, being drunk, for example is only a temporary happiness.
For some people success is having a loving family, raising a healthy child, for another it's having a prosperous carrier in business. I can see success being a subjective thing.

Just my opinion.

And what are you trying to say with those examples? An alcoholic, or a paedophile can be a successful businessman for all we know (). I don't see the point bringing them up.
And those people who drink themselves stupid every night, are surely not happy in life.

Hapiness, mainly because I don't care too much about money, even when I was young I never really did, was not materialistic at all. The only thing my parents helped me pay was for college of course but I had to return the favor with good grades

All I can say is money does not buy happiness

and kids.....I doubt anybody will want my kids :depress:

Well, yes? But as I said, everyone should judge their own success by their standards. I'm not going to rate other people's lives on the success-meter.
