No Fernandinho for City, no Mane for us. I think we’ll miss him more than City will miss Fernandinho. Mane is born for these big games.

Another run out for the lads before our first game on Friday. Just wanna see more fluency and sharpness.

Preferred lineup:

Alisson - Trent Matip Van Dijk Robertson - Hendo Fabinho Gini - Salah Firmino Origi

Wilson deserves minutes though... wouldn’t be suprised if Milner starts too, he looks season ready as ever.

Very slow first half: yeah Salah missed a few but City could have finished us off by HT.

Delighted with the second half though: lots of sustained pressure, more fight and hunger, lovely diagonal balls to a very dangerous looking Salah (definitely gonna have him in my fantasy football team this week!), Keita game us an extra dimension with his drives and really should have slotted his chance away. Unsure about our high line in places, but we didn’t concede in the end on the counter.

And yes, penalties are sh*t. Let’s practice them before the Super Cup too :p

Klopp started by his main XI. the reds controlled most of the match, created and missed many chances especially that one of Salah in the last minute of the match which was saved by Walker.

i don't forget to say that even Van Dijk missed one too.

he was bound to score against (which was a lucky bounce) us anyway. It took 5 years to score in the shield. as long as he continues his bad form in our other matches its ok.

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson joins Bournemouth on season-long loan

The Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan after Eddie Howe identified the Wales international as an ideal replacement for David Brooks.

The Wales international impressed in pre-season for Liverpool, who placed a £25m valuation on his head earlier in the summer, but has been allowed to leave as Jürgen Klopp cannot offer the regular first-team football he needs this seaon.

Wilson, 22, flourished on loan at Derby County last season, when he helped Frank Lampard’s team reach the Championship play-off final. Bournemouth will pay a loan fee of £2.5m plus £500,000 in performance-related bonuses. There is no option for a permanent transfer and Liverpool did not receive another offer they deemed suitable for the player this summer.

Howe, the Bournemouth manager, views Wilson as a natural replacement for Brooks, who is facing three months on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

i'm really surprised by this decision. H.Wilson played all the pre-season matches this summer. i thought that he's included in Klopp's plan this season but his move denied everything.

this also means one of the team options is dropped while we haven't signed more new players during this summer transfers.

EFL Trophy: Liverpool Under-21s lose in their opening game against Oldham Athletic

Liverpool Under-21s narrowly missed out on a win in their first EFL Trophy appearance after Oldham Athletic came from behind to win 3-2.

Jamie Stott's late goal gave League Two Oldham the group stage win.

Liverpool's Neco Williams had opened the scoring early on but Oldham turned it round through Desire Segbe Azankpo's chip and an Alex Iacovitti volley.

Harvey Elliott, the 16-year-old forward who joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer, then levelled before half-time.

Elliott became the youngest Premier League debutant at 16 years and 30 days as a Fulham substitute in their 1-0 defeat by Wolverhampton in May.

He moved to Anfield in July after attracting interest from Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain.

Liverpool are one of two clubs making their debut in the competition this season, which features 16 category one academies as well as the 48 League One and League Two clubs.

Manchester United Under-21s are the other new team, who beat Rotherham United 2-0 on Tuesday.

I doubt Mane will be ready for this one, but a front three of Origi-Firmino-Salah should be enough firepower against new boys Norwich City, who are missing their first choice centreback partnership and defensive mid.

Curious to see if Klopp partners Van Dijk with Gomez or Matip. I believe Matip came out of the FA Community Shield with a bit more cred, while Gomez is VVD’s long term partner.

Prediction: 2-0

Klopp started this match with the best lineup for him. He benched Mane who came after 74min to play some minutes since he's not fully fit. Origi did a decent match instead of him and he scored too.

Arnold- Gomez- van Dijk - Robertson

Klopp prefered to start with Gomez above of Lovren and Matip, all of them are ready and is able to keep the same strong line we look at. this also means liverpool defense line is quite good this season

We're also Lucky that we have one of the best full-backs in the world right now

the same thing happens in the midfield, you won't ever predict which 3 options Klopp to start with.

he started by those 3

Henderson- Fabinho - Wijnaldum

and still there're Milner, Keita, Shaqiri, OX, Lallana.. etc, so he depends on rotating them in every match. we will see who to start next in the next match

4 beautiful goals for the reds. interesting to see Salah scored and keep his challenge for the EPL top scorer as always.

liverpool controlled the match in the 1st half and was much better than 2nd half.

Adrian, Milner and Mane were the 3 substitutes for Klopp in this match, they came on the pitch for Alisson('35) Origi('74) and Firmino('86)
