2011/12 UEFA Champion's League

Well, this is strange. A few hours a go, we had a CHANCE at playing in Europa, and now we're being thrown into the CL group stage. I won't act like I'm not excited but I still feel for all of my friends who are FB supporters. Hopefully, we can get some respectable results and represent Turkiye the best we can.

Anyway, the draw is tomorrow (or today depending where you live) and here are the pots.

lol in a way this probably feels like sweet revenge for Trabzonspor fans because they placed as runners up last year.

If Trabzonspor are convicted during court proceedings in future, this participation will be the reason for Turkey being barred from UEFA competition/s.

What an absolute mess. How can so many parties be on so many different levels about what should have been a straight forward "evidence is this, convicted are they, end of story but you can appeal if you want".

P.S - on the topic of the draw, I don't see any possible combination of teams where Trabzonspor could finish in the top two. Hopefully either they'll land one of BATE or Basel from Pot 3.

I'm wondering then, will Athletic Bilbao get a free bye to the groups given that Trabzon has been placed in CL?

Trabzonspor CAN go through, but it is still unlikely. Don't think there would be many easier chances for a Turkish club in the forseeable future.

Of course. The European match experience on this team is nearly non-existent, so its all about getting the points we can and improving our coefficients for future endeavors. I'd be ecstatic with 3rd place.

CSKA's "world's greatest goalkeeper" Akinfeev is out for 6 months. They will stick to their back up.

Def good news for Trabzon in the CL then.
