STSL Week 9: Trabzonspor - Genclerbirligi

I figure I should actually make a game thread after my half-ass attempts for the past couple games.

So we're coming off a 7-0 win last week. Traditionally, we follow great results with mediocre ones so hopefully we can change that with this game. I haven't gotten the chance to see Genclerbirligi recently but going by the standings, we should get a win.

Teo will be back from suspension, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Senol goes with Umut instead, since he actually had a very good game last week. In fact, fanatik is reporting that we're going with the same lineup as last week despite Teo, Yattara, Glowacki, and Engin Baytar being available (which is understandable after a convincing win). But yeah.. pretty sick bench.

Apparently, Hiddink will be attending a game at Avni Aker for the first time, so there should be some guys trying to impress. I know a lot of people may not agree, but I think Egemen would be pretty serviceable on the NT in a back-up role. Hes had a few nightmare games in the past, but when hes on his game, the guy is a warrior out there. Burak will probably try hard as *****, cherry pick 3 goals, and get a NT selection :rollani:

Yeesh, we're dominating the ball but not going anywhere with it. 0-1 at HT. Harbuzi is killing us.

Well theyre fielding the same lineup that won last week, and last week he didnt play because he arrived back to camp late from NT duty.

Man comeback wins are always the most satisfying.

FT 3-1.

The difference between how we played in either half was night and day, and it really was the switch in 3 central midfielders to 2. Having Ceyhun in there is really just unnecessary a lot of the time. In games like these, where we should expect a win, hes mainly just dead weight. Once we subbed him out for Engin, who had a nice game and really pushed the tempo, we broke down their defense with runs down the wing and got what we wanted on attack.

Serkan is having a career season. I believe hes the assist leader with 5 or 6 assists, and despite a few dumb mistakes once in a while (like Genclerbirligi's goal) hes been very solid. Selcuk was fantastic as usual, and I'm glad someone finally connected on of his crosses. Burak was actually quite impressive, and of course he met his quota for goals.

Trabzon look solid this season. This must be one of the better starts in a long, long time. Am I right?

I'd prefer Trabzon to become champions so keep this up. Well, I'd actually prefer us to become champions but only if we can continue our success the season after rather than abject failure.

I believe Ersun Yanal had a similar start point-wise, 2 seasons ago. A lot of those wins were very close and nerve-wrecking though.
