Caner Erkin

Well this signing is almost put pen to paper. Hayirlisi olsun.

Hopefully this means the death of Serkan Balci and Tayfun Cora on the right back unless your coach is planning on using him on your wing.

Wow, I am surprised Caner did not end up at one of the big 3. What is the rumored price?

And where exactly is Serkan playing in the Trabzonspor line-up these days? While he isn't particularly good, at least he is very versatile.

"You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day, you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son."

Wow, awesome. If Trabzon gets their shit together sampiyonlar olabilir

I can see a very tight race between Fener and Trabzon ala the 2004-05 season.

Why would signing Caner, an overwhelmingly left footed player, make a world of difference on the right side?

I could be wrong but I am fairly sure Caner has never played right back.

I used to follow him at Manisaspor when he was a hot prospect and he never played right back there.

He is a purely left footed player who can either play left back, or the attacking midfield positions.

Is this a buy deal or a loan? God knows what off the field problems lead to this kid flopping in Russia but I am still a big fan of his.

His value should even be higher in Turkey consider we really lack good left footed players for the left side of the pitch. If Ismail Koybasi is 5.5 million Caner is certainly better than him.

He was primarily used as a left winger and as a wingback when Zhirkov was injured IIRC. I'm not sure though. I hope a CSKA fan can enlighten us.

Because it was three in the morning as I made this thread and I think something hit my head I never watched Caner play at CSKA but knew he played at right back.

Thanks God he did choose to go GS instead, otherwise our idiots was about to purchase another lefty. It is hard to believe. The team needs new addition for every area except left side but we are still interested in lefty. Laz style I guess.

Because he didn't develop into a first-league material, pure and simple. Zico saw it and he didn't care for his development.
Pay €3.5m outright or pick his €1.5m salary, and Caner will be back in Turkey further learning the feel of the bench.

And no different than what Olcan and Gürhan experienced with Zico.

What, you don't think they have a strong enough squad to compete for the title?

GK: Sylva, Zengin
DF: Serkan, Tayfun, Ferhat Cale, Giray, Song, Egemen
MF: Engin, Yattara, Gabric, Alanzinho, Zafer, Tjikuzu, Baris, Ceyhun, Selcuk, Colman
FW: Gokhan, Umut

They are lacking a striker and possibly a better left back, but you're telling me this team has NO chance of challenging for the title? You can say what you want about their early season form, but remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

And remember, I said IF they get their shit together, meaning Yattara staying healthy, Gokhan scoring goals, Alanzinho lighting up the TSL etc..

(Btw, 2004-05 season Galatasaray finished 3rd, a single point behind Trabzon, who in turn were two points behind Fenerbahce)

If every player is at the peak of their powers for 34 consecutive weeks and Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe brain fart again, sure they have a chance.

Other than the players in bold, I don't see a difference between this squad and most Anadolu teams.
