Szymkowiak retiring?

Can someone please translate the article for me:

--------------
TRABZON'DA SZYMEK ŞOKU!..
Haberi yazdırın 28 Aralık 2006 22:15

Trabzonspor Kulübü'ne Polonyalı oyuncu Miraslaw Szymkowiak adına mektup geldiği ve mektupta ''Futbolu bıraktım. Trabzon'a dönmeyeceğim'' ifadelerinin yer aldığı belirtildi.

Sure mate. It says that they recieved a letter saying that he has left football and wont be returning to Trabzonspor.

Hasim Sayitoglu said it has Szymkowiak's name and is written in a foriegn language. This letter could have come from anybody and that he was suppose to have come to camp today but didnt. We cant reach him by phone either, our suspicions are very great.

We are still discussing wat to do.

Very dodgy that a player these days would write a letter to announce retirements. But if he didn't show up at camp, it makes you wonder....

Waya - where did you get this article from?

"Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules, and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence: in other words it is war minus the shooting."

That ones from the maraton website, but you can find the same thing on any turkish media website.

I hope its not true... What a terrible way for a fan favorite to go.

It is in polish media too.

Strange all I can say although he gave recently a few interviews where he said he wants to leave etc.

It looks like he is really desperate to leave but it shows lack of class the way he is trying to do this.... if these articles are true.

If its true, all I'll say is that its a shame. The Trabzon fans loved him even when he wasn't playing.

Theres no sense in forcing him to see out his contract if he doesnt want to play for us. Hopefully, things will work out.

Fabiano Elller is supposed to be coming back from loan after winning the Copa Libertadores with Internacional.

If true, it's the type of situation the word "serefsiz" fits perfectly. He's been treated great at Trabzon, shown nothing but love even as he spent months out with injury, and this is how he repays them?

Trabzon should keep him tied to his contract, but not pay him because he's not honouring the contract and keep him sidelined for at least until the end of this season..

Ehh.. We stand at 7 foreigners right now, and there are 2 or 3 central midfielders who Ziya favors over Szymkowiak. Unless Yattara gets Turkish citizenship, which i dont see happening, the only reasonable conclusion would be selling Szymek or terminating his contract.

I dont want this to turn out like the Ortega or Ribery situations. Even if he isnt honoring his contract, he gave us two great seasons.

So you'd rather satisfy his wish and let him run off and sign for another club within a few weeks?

He's a dick. Even when injured long term the club's been by his side, and he can't return the same back for just half a season..

Im just thinking about whats best for the club.. Filling the foreign player limit with a guy who has no will to play for the club, and probably wont see much playing time will not help the team get out of the mess they're in. Bringing in a decent defender (Eller?) in his place might however.

I doubt Eller would come back from Internacional, the only way to bring him back would be to upset him and force him back..

I doubt you could bring in a foreigner good enough at this stage of the season either. The club would be pretty stupid to start making transfers now in the middle of this mess, the best action would be to use the next 6 months to assess the current crop of players and plan for transfers to be made next season. There's no rush now, the club isn't going anywhere up or down this season..

Well arent you proposing we upset Szymek by forcing him back? Besides, Eller is supposed to be joining the training camp in a few days. If he doesnt want to stay with us, we can probably fetch a good price from teams that liked his performances in S.America, against Barcelona, or whatever.

And I dont think the club needs too many transfers. A right-back is probably the most important right now, then maybe a left winger. A goal-scorer would be nice too, but since we have no room for foreigners and theres a limited amount of great Turkish strikers, we'll have to make due with what we have.

So how is Szymkowiak's case similar to Eller for you to make that comparison? One is a dick who's walking out on the club who treated him great and gave him nothing but love. The other is a player who never settled in Turkey, was barely liked and went back to South America and became champion of the continent (and world)..
