The League One thread

As we're getting into the business end of the season, I thought I'd make a thread to look at the teams trying to make it to the championship next season. Perhaps there's another Bournemouth or Brentford waiting to come up. promoted teams have done quite well in recent years.

Table looks like this with 7-9 games to go, depending on the team.

Pos - team - played - points

1 - Bristol City - 39 - 84
2 - Preston - 38 - 74
3 - Swindon - 37 - 70
4 - MK Dons - 38 - 69
5 - Sheff Utd - 39 - 61
6 - Chesterfield - 39 - 57
7 - Rochdale - 38 - 56
8 - Barnsley - 39 - 56
9 - Peterboro - 39 - 56
10 - Bradford - 38 - 54
11 - Doncaster - 38 - 53
12 - Fleetwood - 39 - 53

Bristol City look certain for a return to the championship. It looks like Preston or Swindon for second, MK dons still have a chance. Then any from 5th to 12th could take the last 2 play off spots. iD expect Sheffield UTd to claim one, their squad should be challenging for automatic really.

Personally would like to Chesterfield stay 6th and win the play offs. Derbyshire and proud

hopefully MK Dons won't go up...

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? Chesterfield is apparently one of the oldest clubs in the world...officially started with football in 1866 but some think it might've been as early as 1863 or 1864.

Yeah, a Derbyshire times article was discovered a couple of years back reporting a game in January 1864' suggesting a Chesterfield FC of some description was formed in probably 1863. They didn't make it to the football league until the 1920's.

They've never really done much other than float around the bottom 2 divisions, apart from a run in the second division through the 30s and 40s, ending in relegation in 1951.

Random fact, Gordon Banks started his career at Chesterfield.

Not in my lifetime I don't think, good old fashioned club though, rather see them in the championship than MK franchise any day

MK dons have slowly been getting stronger, if they don't do it this season it seems inevitable they will get to the championship at least soon enough. Not what the traditionalists want to see.

3-0 win for Bristol City could tell they were the best team in this division, some decent players, be interesting too see what they do next season.

Think the top 5 will stay as it is, the between chesterfield and Rochdale for the last play off place.

Fleetwood failed to take advantage of Chesterfield and rochdales draws, can't see them catching Chesterfield now.

Fleet wood could have got right back in the play off chase with a win, 5 points to make up is to much at this stage.
