19/08/2006 West Brom v Colchester

Our second home game and surely our second home win.

With the squad of players we have, we should be beating them 3 or 4 nil.

Hartson scoring a hat-trick?

...it wouldnt be bad to see a big score, it has been a while since WB didnt achieve a win like that (vs Everton 4:0)

Colchester though pointless have showed they can compete, so it don't see no 4-0 scoreline, it's a shame Parkinson went too Hull, and they lost Danns, with them two still there I think they could have had a good go at staying up, but they've gone and there really going too struggle (and Parkinson will probably go down with Hull anyway, who looked shyte to me) can't see anything but a Baggies win, but it will be harder than expected, 2-1!

Ellington might miss the match, that means Hartson will play with Gera in attack, and Carter/Inamoto to take Gera's place in midfield.

this is the reason why a new striker is a must !

I was at that one, the away "tunnel" could only fit 4 people deep, makes for an odd atmosphere.

yeah if Nath isn't fit, I too reckon we'll see Gera playing in the hole behind Hartson. Its where Bentex says he plays for Hungary, so hopefully he'll do well there.

He used to play there under Matthäus. Under the new coach (Bozsik) we play a 4-3-3 formation. A bit like Chelsea the last 2 years. We play with one striker Szabics/Drogba and two players either side. Huszti/Robben and on the right Gera/Cole.

well yet again a game we should have put to bed a LONG time ago, we really should have been 4-0 up at half time.

Seemed to be the old second half, "we've already done enough attitude" back again. Sigh!

But then again we did chop and change the formation and ended up taking off Ellington and Gera, so its not surprising we didn't score in the second half, and ended up on the back foot.

We so need to sign some strikers to give us some more options.

From BBC

Colchester are still waiting for their first points of the season after goals from Nathan Ellington and Ronnie Wallwork gave West Brom victory.

Ellington put Albion ahead from the penalty spot on 11 minutes after Wayne Brown fouled John Hartson.

Wallwork doubled the lead after 41 minutes with a sharp finish to Paul Robinson's cross.

Substitute Jamie Guy headed Kevin Watson's cross in after 81 minutes, but the U's could not find an equaliser.

#
West Brom boss Bryan Robson:
"We dominated the game and we could have scored more goals.

"At 2-0 up the lads should have been able to play with a lot of confidence.

"But we were a bit nervy, we weren't fluent and we went on to the back foot.

"I could not have been any more pleased with the first-half display but we fell away in the second-half."

#
Colchester manager Geraint Williams:
"We caused them problems in the second-half but by then we had given ourselves a mountain to climb.

"I thought the players put all the things we planned to do into the game and we were unlucky not to come out of it with a point in the end.

"But if we are to be successful in this league we can't shoot ourselves in the foot like we did in the first-half."
