Club announce hunt for signings

From express & star
Hunt for signings kicks off

By Steve Madeley

May 10, 2006

Albion have launched 'Operation Promotion' following a key summit between
manager Bryan Robson and chairman Jeremy Peace.

Robson presented Peace with a hit-list of summer transfer targets yesterday
as the two men met to discuss their plans for the return to the
Championship.

And the manager has fixed his sights on completing the bulk of the summer
business before returning for pre-season training at the beginning of July.

Chairman and manager met with the rest of the Baggies directors to firm up
their plans for summer recruitment, and Robson said Peace would begin
chasing new players immediately.

But the manager also stressed the need to keep together the bulk of the
squad from their Premiership relegation season as top-flight clubs begin to
circle around Albion's prize assets.

"I had a meeting with the chairman and board yesterday morning and it was
very positive," said Robson.

"We talked about the future and trying to make sure we keep all the boys and
add to the squad.

"If we can get a couple of the players we're after and keep the current boys
happy then it gives us a really good chance for next season.

"The structure of the club means we were allowed to do this and I think the
current players showed on Sunday they are very capable.

"I've identified positions and given the chairman a list of players I'd like
to bring in. He will work on that over the next few days and weeks.

"A lot depends on the lads who are out of contract with us but we will try
to get a couple in regardless.

"The board and I want people in by the time we get back to pre-season on
July 6 because it shows the supporters and the boys the intentions and
ambitions of this club.

"It shows we're serious about getting back to the Premiership and not
hanging around."

There are rumours about Bruno N'Gotty, he's available on a free transfer. Than Cameron Jerome of Cardiff, a swop with Koumas is considered.

Robson apparently wants this guy first: Danny Shittu from QPR
I never saw him play, but he seems a powerfull defender based on what people wrote about him.

"Big Dave" left and "Big Dan" is about to join

He will cost around 2.5 milions
