Derry to Leeds ...finally.

Leeds have tried to sign Palace midfielder and hairstyle expert Shaun Derry. Leeds agreed terms with Shaun ...and then realised they didn't have enough money to pay Palace :rollani:

Leeds United's attempt to sign Shaun Derry on loan from Crystal Palace has collapsed.

It had been thought the 26-year-old would play for The Whites against Watford on Wednesday evening, but he is not available to manager Kevin Blackwell.

Leeds were hoping to sign the Eagles' midfielder on loan before paying around Ł250,000 to secure his services permanently.

However, the South London outfit have refused to sanction the loan move, although Leeds' board spokesman Brian Morris has stated a deal could be resurrected.

"We haven't been able to conclude the terms of the transfer to Crystal Palace's satisfaction," explained Morris.

"The situation is we wanted him on loan for a month with a view to a permanent move but they have not agreed.

"It could happen in the future if terms are agreed."

Got lucky what...pants p
I remember that game well Was it 3 goals in eight minutes :frustrat:

Derry's never really won the fans over at Palace, he has the stigma of being one of Trevor Francis' players in many people's eyes.

Crystal Palace midfielder Shaun Derry has returned to his hometown to join Nottingham Forest on loan.

Derry started his career with Forest's city rivals Notts County but has now moved to The City Ground for a month.

The 27-year-old had been lined up for a switch to fellow Championship side Leeds United before the deal collapsed.

He was due to join Leeds on loan with a view to a permanent move but the transfer fell through and he has now signed for Forest.

Derry has not played for Palace since their Carling Cup defeat to Manchester United in November and will look to boost Forest's quest to stay in The Championship during his month at the club.

Derry signs for Leeds

Leeds seal Derry swoop
by James Pearson

Leeds United have finally completed the capture of Shaun Derry from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.

The Whites had been set to land the 27-year-old midfielder last November, but the deal collapsed at the last minute.

Derry had been on loan at Nottingham Forest, but he was recalled enabling him to pen a two-and-a-half year deal at Elland Road.

Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell believes the player's aggression and determination will prove add the right attributes to his squad.

"He's been involved in this division for a few years now and is a battler," said Blackwell to the club's official website.

"He is a fierce competitor, while he is also powerful, strong and at 27, he is coming up to the right age for a midfielder."

The former Portsmouth star could make his Leeds debut on Saturday after going straight into the squad that travel to Wigan.

Good luck to the mullet man.

Undisclosed fee usually means Palace have given the player away
