EPL Palace vs Newcastle Utd

Palace still have fitness doubts over AJ and Fitz Hall, with Hall being the less likley to play. Aki Riihilahti missed Finland's game during the week and could also be struggling to make this one
Probable line up-

Kiraly

Liegertwood... Boyce...Popovic...Granville

Routledge...Watson...Hughes...Riihilahti( Derry)...Kolkka

Johnson(Freedman)

Always seem to get a pretty good game against Newcastle, extra spice will be added by the inclusion of Bowyer and Bellamy in their side...Palace fans have some old "issues" with those two

Palace 0-2 Newcastle Utd

Horrible, cold and wet day today. Not a bad game but we didn't play as well as we can Both the goals came in the last 10 mins of a hard fought game in which Palace again flooded the midfield and got everybody bar AJ behind the ball.
Newcastle had the bulk of the play but didn't really test Palace in the first half, Palace on the other hand were quick on the break and had the two best chances of the half. Kolkka came off the left wing on his right foot and bent a curler just around Given's far post and shortly before half time AJ had a shot saved by the Newcastle keeper.
Palace struggled to get a central midfielder up to support AJ in his lone role, too often he was outnumbered by the big Geordie defenders and it seemed that whenever he did break free he was cynically clattered , leading to at yellow cards for Ronnie Jonsen and Bernard.
Robert did his best Baros diving impression thoughout, but did hit a great freekick ono the bar.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw when there was some confusion down the Palace left allowing Kluivert to score with a back heel( tv will probably replay it a milion times ) The second goal came as Palace threw everybody upfield looking for an equaliser and got caught on the breakaway

In summary then, we again competed well but gave the ball away too easily, Kolkka and Routledge didn't get the best service ,and were often too deep to hurt the opposition.AJ worked hard and got kicked alot but we only created one chance for him. Newcastle weren't fantastic but their play was more precise and they probably feel they were deserving victors.

I didn't think neither team played well to be honest, and it was a boring game to be at. We shouldn't have lost 2-0. We need to be able to concrete till the last ten minutes. Still not bottom three though. However, a win against the Saints will be very much welcomed.
