Carling Cup. Charlton1-2 Palace Reserves

OK, so it's a bit late and I'd rather have the points from a league win, but they had it coming
Ten-man Crystal Palace came back from a goal down to shock Charlton with a virtual second string side.

Eagles boss Iain Dowie had made 10 changes from the side which beat West Brom in the Premiership last Saturday.

And Charlton seemed set to capitalise when Hermann Hreidarsson headed in Danny Murphy's corner.

A superb Dougie Freedman shot levelled for Palace before Sandor Torghelle, who was later sent-off, grabbed the winner for the visitors.

It was no surprise when Hreidarsson scored after four minutes and Kevin Lisbie could have added a second only to shoot high from a promising position.

But Crystal Palace worked their way back into the game after the home side's early dominance and their reward came when Freedman's strike sent them in level at half time.

The goal spurred Palace on and, after Torghelle saw a powerful strike saved by Dean Kiely, the Hungarian striker scored the eventual winner.

Torghelle latched onto a Shaun Derry through ball before drilling in a shot from the edge of the area.

He was later sent-off when the referee adjudged he had dived gave him a second yellow card.

But Charlton failed to take advantage of the extra man with Palace booking their spot in the fourth round.
