Bolton Wanderers vs. Crystal Palace (16/10/04)

Quote:
Crystal Palace travel to Bolton on Saturday hoping to build on their first league win which came against Fulham last time out.

Bolton will also be looking for victory having not won in The Premiership since August.

The Trotters last took maximum points from a league fixture when they hosted Liverpool on August 29, and have drawn three and lost one of their subsequent four matches.

However, two of the draws came against Arsenal and Manchester United, and Sam Allardyce's men still sit in the relatively lofty perch of seventh.

Big Sam expects to have inspirational skipper Jay-Jay Okocha available for the game after shaking off a groin injury picked up in the defeat at West Brom two weeks ago.

Joining him in the squad will be Senegal international Khalilou Fadiga who has proved his fitness after joining the club as a free agent in September.

Kevin Nolan should also be fit to return after minor surgery to an ankle complaint, but Gary Speed and Ricardo Gardner may be rested after playing back-to-back internationals this week.

Palace boss Iain Dowie has admitted that he wants to construct his side along the same lines that Allardyce has done at The Reebok Stadium.

Dowie insists his side's win over Fulham can be a springboard for their season.

The Eagles also have doubts over returning internationals, with Tony Popovic and Ivan Kaviedes both having undertaken extensive journeys to represent their countries.

If Popovic is rested, then he is likely to be replaced by Fitz Hall who has shrugged off a foot problem.

Skysports.com prediction: 3-1
Bolton to bounce back to winning ways
I'm realistic and say we can nick a point hear. A win would be nice, but against Bolton, I can't see it.

My team for the match would be:

-----------------Kiraly--------------------
--Boyce---Sorondo----Hall---Granville-----
---Routledge--Lakis---Rihiilahti--Kolkka----
------------Johnson---Ventola-----------

Or M.Hughes instead of Ventola in a 4-5-1 formation. Palace can get something from the match!

Bolton 1-0 Palace

I haven't seen the game bar a few seconds of highlights, but from match reports etc it seems that Palace were overpowered by a physically much bigger team.

The starting XI was unchanged from the victory over Fulham, although with hindsight it may have been better to go back to 4-4-2 and utilise Sandor Torghelle's physical presence.

C Palace: Kiraly ,Boyce ,Popovic ,Hall ,Granville ,Routledge ,Riihilahti (Derry ,79 ) ,Watson (Freedman ,69 ) ,Hughes ,Kolkka (Lakis ,61 ) ,Johnson
Subs not used Speroni,Sorondo

Too bad, but Bolton has a good team this season. Hopefully we will bounce straight back, and perform well next match.

Spot on Eagle, I thought we weren't going to win because Bolton are just a too physical side.
